PokerStars Big Game

The PokerStars Big Game on Tour cash game show is coming back in 2025, and you — yes, you — have an opportunity to get in on the high-stakes action even if you can't afford to play.

PokerStars, as the online poker giant did one year ago, will be hosting three free qualifiers to find the next "Loose Cannon" (details on how to enter below). All qualifying tournaments take place at Resorts World in Las Vegas during the upcoming North American Poker Tour (NAPT) series, which runs Nov. 1-10.

For those unfamiliar with the concept, the "Loose Cannon" is a recreational poker player who is staked in televised high-stakes poker games against high-profile pros. Last year's two "Loose Cannon's were Nikki Limo and Lily Newhouse, while Phil Hellmuth and Jennifer Tilly were among the competitors.

How to Become the Next "Loose Cannon"

Interested in being a "Loose Cannon" on the upcoming season of the PokerStars Big Game on Tour Season 2? The obvious first step is to be in Las Vegas during the qualifier dates, and those are Oct. 30 and 31, and Nov. 4.

Next, you're going to need to show off some poker skills as PokerStars isn't looking for just anyone to play. They want someone who can hold their own at the poker table. That in mind, there are three separate qualifying tournaments at Resorts World — one per day on the previously mentioned days.

Registration for all flights opens at 1 p.m. PT on Oct. 30, and it is advised you show up early as there will undoubtedly be a long line. The start time on Oct. 30 is 4 p.m. for Flight A, and then 11 a.m. for Flight B (Oct. 31) and 10 a.m. for Flight C (Nov. 4).

The PokerStars Big Game on Tour Season 2 is going to feature some big name pros and celebrities, and that list includes NFL legend and future Hall of Fame tight end Rob Gronkowski. There will be a bit of a sports theme in the game this coming season as "Gronk" will be joined at the table by FS1 sports talk personality Nick Wright, and avid poker player who took on, and lost to, Hellmuth on PokerGO's High Stakes Duel in 2021.

Those who qualify at Resorts World won't automatically become the next "Loose Cannon." The winners will instead be put through the ringer a bit to prove they have what it takes. That includes a personality and skills audition in front of longtime PokerStars commentating duo Joe Stapleton and James Hartigan. The judges will then choose which contestants best exemplify the spirit of the "Loose Cannon," much like Limo and Newhouse did last year.
