Vengrin Flushes Simon Morris Out

Simon Morris has been eliminated after Matt Vengrin caught a flush on the river to send him to the rail.

Morris got all of his chips in good on a flop of {8-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{j-Diamonds} holding {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}, but Vengrin's {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} still had flush prospects.

Morris was almost there after the turn blanked the {k-Spades}, but the river spiked the {a-Diamonds} enough to eliminate him from today's event.

Vengrin is up to 19,400.

Top Set for Cabrera

Abel Cabrera
Abel Cabrera
A short-stacked Abel Cabrera saw a {K-Spades}{2-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop against Bruno Portaro where they both agreed to cap the action and put Cabrera all in.

Emad Tahtouh said, "It has to be top set or aces" and he was spot on as Cabrera tabled {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} for top set to leave Portaro drawing near-dead with his {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}.

The turn and river didn't provide any miracles and Cabrera also won the very next hand to recover to a respectable 6,800 chips.

Obrestad's Three Pair is Good

Dan Shak raised preflop and Annette Obrestad made the call from the big blind holding {4-Hearts}{3-Spades}. On the {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{4-Clubs} board, Obrestad led only for Shak to play back. After thinking for a few moments, Obrestad decided Shak probably didn't have a jack and made the call.

With the {q-Diamonds} hitting the turn Obrestad let Shak bet out, and check-called. With the river being a {3-Diamonds} both players checked and Shak mucked his hand.

Obrestad is on the up at 11,600, while Shak is steady at 7,200.

Saab Does It Again

David Saab is at it again. This time the victim was another female player in Samantha Watson. Saab raised preflop and Watson called out of the big blind.

They took a {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop and Watson led out for 250. Saab made the call. The turn was the {7-Spades} and again Watson's bet was called by Saab. The river was another ace from space as the {A-Spades} fell and Watson's third bet of the hand was called by Saab.

Watson tabled {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts} but her hand had effectively been counterfeited on the river as Saab flipped {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades} for a better kicker.

"I love sucking out!" laughed Saab, "I'll buy you a drink at the next break!" He's up to 15,800.

Gorr Takes a Hit

David Gorr - One of the early leaders
David Gorr - One of the early leaders
With the action capped preflop David Gorr, Phillip Willcocks, and both the big blind and small blind players took a four-handed flop of {8-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{8-Clubs}.

With the blinds and Willcocks checking, Gorr fired out a bet in position, and was called by Willcocks. The blinds folded.

The {9-Diamonds} on the turn saw Willcocks once again check to Gorr, who fired out 500, only to be check-raised to 1,000. Gorr made the call to see the river card.

The {6-Diamonds} on the river saw Willcocks bet out and Gorr call. Willcocks showing down the {8-Spades}{10-Spades} for a set, Gorr pausing momentarily before tossing his cards into the muck.

After Willcocks shipped that monster pot, Gorr takes a slight hit, but is still looking ominous at around 14,000.

Saab Sucks Out

Annette Obrestad opened with a raise to 500 from under the gun and David Saab made the call on the button.

The flop landed {5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and Obrestad checked to Saab who bet out 250. Obrestad check-raised to 500 and Saab quipped, "I'll try to suck out" and made the call.

The turn brought the {6-Spades} and Obrestad fired again for 500. Saab laughed and again said, "I'll try to suck out" and called once more.

The river was the {A-Clubs} and Obrestad checked to Saab, who fired a bet. Obrestad thought for a few moments before making the call. Saab tabled {A-Spades}{4-Hearts} for a rivered pair of aces which was good to collect the pot. He's up to 13,600 with Obrestad back to 8,400.

Obst Doubles Through

McLEOD doubles, not out of the woods though
McLEOD doubles, not out of the woods though
With two limpers in front, James "Andy McLEOD" Obst holding {k-Spades}{8-Spades} raised to 400 from his big blind preflop. The {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop ensued and with the small blind player checking, Obst bet 200, David Campbell called in late position and the small blind folded.

With the {8-Clubs} on the turn Obst moved his final 150 chips into the pot and Campbell not surprisingly made the call. Campbell tabled {k-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Obst would need to dodge any heart that didn't pair the board. With the river throwing down a blank he was able to double through.

Obst is clinging to life in this tournament at 1,800.

Huntly Collects With Kings

Dennis Huntly
Dennis Huntly
Robert Campbell opened with an under-the-gun raise and Maya Gellar-Antonius made the call in the cutoff, under the watchful eye of Patrik Antonius who is now seated nearby. Dennis Huntly called in the small blind as did Jamie Pickering in the big blind.

The flop came down {7-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{7-Hearts} and Huntly led out with a bet which was called by all three opponents.

The turn was the {6-Spades} and Huntly fired again with Gellar-Antonius the only caller. The river landed the {10-Spades} and again Huntly fired. Gellar-Antonius made the call but couldn't beat the {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} of Huntly as he collected the pot to move up to 18,000 chips.
