"Andy McLEOD" Moving Up

David Campbell raised preflop, with the small blind and James Obst in the big blind both making the call.

The player in the small blind opened the action on the {9-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{7-Spades} flop, Obst proceeded to raise this bet and David Campbell capped the betting. The small blind decided to fold and Obst called going to the turn.

Obst check-called the turn {2-Diamonds} and both players checked the river {k-Spades}. Obst tabled {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for two pair, and Campbell immediately mucked.

Obst moves up to 17,000.

Obrestad Ownage

We don't like to use the overly-used poker term "sick" but that is the best word to describe the call-down we just witnessed by young gun Annette Obrestad.

The flop was {2-Spades}{5-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and Phil Willcocks checked to Obrestad, who bet out for 500. Willcocks made the call.

The turn brought the {Q-Hearts} and Willcocks check-raised the bet from Obrestad, who made the call. The river was the {4-Hearts} and Willcocks fired out a bet.

Obrestad made the call and Willcocks instantly mucked his cards, knowing that he was beat. Obrestad tabled {K-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for just king high!

"Ownage!" screamed David Saab, "Spank, spank! Denied!"

No Doubts for Andrew Mercaldi

After earlier reporting that Andrew Mercaldi felt he added value to today's field, not being the most adept player at limit, his suspicions have been confirmed after he was eliminated.

Mercaldi will be glad to know that this is the only Fixed-Limit Hold'em tournament on the schedule, while there are still plenty of No-Limit Hold'em events to go, including the AU$10,500 buy-in Maint Event here at the 2009 Aussie Millions Poker Championship.

Bad River for The Hoon

Mick "The Hoon" Stanton raised from middle position with Alfred Grech making the call, as did Matt Vengrin and Mel Judah in the blinds.

The flop landed {4-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and the play checked to Stanton who bet out, with both Grech and Vengrin making the call.

The turn brought the {J-Hearts} and again Stanton's bet was called by both opponents. They saw the {K-Diamonds} peel off on the river, which slowed the action as the table checked around.

Stanton showed {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts} but he'd been rivered by Vengrin's {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}, whose pair of kings was enough to capture the chips. He moves to 17,400 with Stanton back to 14,400.

Tahtouh Takes One From Guzzardi

Michael Guzzardi raised to 800 from the cutoff and Emad Tahtouh made the call in big blind.

The flop came down {5-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{J-Spades} and Tahtouh checked to Guzzardi, who fired 400. Tahtouh called. The {3-Clubs} hit the turn and Tahtouh checked to Guzzardi who bet 800. Tahtouh then check-raised to 1,600 and Guzzardi made the call.

The river was the {10-Hearts} and Tahtouh led out for 800. Guzzardi decided to let it go as he tossed his cards into the muck. Tahtouh is up to 8,800 with Guzzardi back to 3,300.
