Tran Saved by the River

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Action folded to Dan Kelly in the cutoff and he raised to 4,000, which JC Tran called from the big blind. Tran then check-called a bet of 5,500 on the {10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{9-Spades} flop before leading out for 11,700 on the {2-Hearts} turn. Kelly thought for a moment and then raised to 29,500. Tran moved all in and Kelly snap-called.

Showdown

Kelly{A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Tran{K-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

It was a monster pot that would likely determine the fate of both players; that is, until the {2-Diamonds} hit on the river to give both a full house and make it a chopped pot.

Tony G Not Having Fun

Tony G doubled up early against JC Tran, but ever since he's struggling to win pots. We just saw him lose two hands which bring him down to 34 big blinds. Still plenty of room to play, but his opponents are going to be able to pressure him more now that he is short on the bubble.

In the first hand Smith raised to 4,000 and Tony G called. The flop came down {4-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Tony check-called 4,000. The turn was the {K-Spades} and now he check-called 10,000. On the river the {A-Spades} hit and both players checked. Smith turned over {Q-Hearts}{Q-Spades}, and Tony G sighed as he mucked his cards.

The massues was send packing by Tony right away, and he played another hand. On a {J-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop Tony bet 6,500 from the small blind and Dan Kelly called in the big blind. On the turn, the {7-Diamonds}, both players checked. The river was the {3-Clubs} and Tony check-folded to a 14,000 bet. Tony is the short stack again, but it's far from over.

Kelly vs. Tony G

Action folded to Tony G on the button and he raised to 4,300. Dan Kelly was next to act in the small blind and he came in with a three-bet to 11,300. Tony G made the call, and then called a bet of 14,200 on the {4-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{10-Spades} flop.

When the dealer burned and turned the {J-Hearts}, Kelly thought for about 45 seconds before moving all in for 75,100. Tony G seemed to know it was coming, leaned back in his chair a bit, and then flicked his cards to the muck.

Tran Slipping

JC Tran started the day in second place, but due to losing some medium sized pots he is now the short stack. It's still very close all around but Tran has to feel somewhat bad about the way this day started out.

On a {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop Elliot Smith check-called 5,4000 from the small blind against Tran, who was in the big blind. The turn was the {2-Diamonds} and Smith check-called 9,200. On the river the {3-Hearts} hit and both players checked. Tran turned over {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and Smith showed {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. "Some hearts would have been fun", Smith said, and Tran replied with, "Or a ten".

We are still five-handed and one spot away from the money.

Tony G Bets the Whole Way

Action folded to JC Tran in the small blind and he limped. Tony G was in the big blind and exercised his option with a raise to 5,000, which Tran called. When the flop came down {9-Spades}{6-Spades}{A-Hearts}, Tran check-called a bet of 5,000, and then check-called another bet of 10,000 on the {8-Diamonds} turn.

Tran checked for a third time on the {9-Clubs} river and Tony G fired out a healthy bet of 40,000. Tran thought for a few moments before conceding the hand.

Smith Gets Karmazinas to Fold Top Pair

Dominykas Karmazinas raised under the gun to 4,000 and his neighbor, Elliot Smith, made the call. The flop came down {8-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and Karmazinas check-called 2,500. The turn was the {K-Spades} and Karmazinas checked again. Smith threw in 4,000, and this was the sign for Karmazinas to throw in a raise to 15,000. Smith tanked for a bit before making the call.

The river was the {8-Diamonds} and Karmazinas checked. Smith wasn't done with the hand and counted down his stack, before betting 50,000. Smith had 40,000 left behind and Karmazinas was suspicious right away. The Lithuanian enquired how much Smith had left, and the Canadian pushed his chips forward without making a sound. Karmazinas seemed confused and just as it looked like he was going to call he turned over the {K-Hearts} and muck his hand. Smith didn't flinch as he raked in the pot.
