Jake Balsiger Eliminated in 3rd Place (AU$650,000)

Level 30 : 60,000/120,000, 10,000 ante
Jake Balsiger - 3rd Place
Jake Balsiger - 3rd Place

The United States will have to wait at least another year to bring home the Aussie Millions Main Event title, as Jake Balsiger has exited in third place at the hands of Ami Barer.

Balsiger min-raised to 240,000 on the button, Barer three-bet to what looked like 575,000 from the small blind, and the American four-bet to 1.175 million. Barer five-bet ripped, moving all in for effectively five million or so, and Balsiger snap-called.

Balsiger: {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}
Barer: {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

Balsiger was in great shape to double up and take the chip lead, but his odds of winning the hand dipped when the dealer fanned {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, giving Barer eight extra outs to make a straight.

"Always a sweat!" someone yelled from the rail.

The turn was the {5-Clubs}, bringing a third club, and it reduced Barer's outs to eight because Balsiger held the only club.

The {6-Hearts} completed the board, giving both players a straight, but Barer's ten gave him the winning hand and eliminated Balsiger in third place.

With that massive hand, Barer heads into heads-up play with a three-to-one chip lead against Sorel Mizzi.

Darren Rabinowitz Eliminated in 4th Place (AU$450,000)

Level 30 : 60,000/120,000, 10,000 ante
Darren Rabinowitz - 4th Place
Darren Rabinowitz - 4th Place

Darren Rabinowitz opened for 240,000 under the gun and Ami Barer responded by three-betting from the button. The blinds both folded, Rabinowitz moved all in, and Barer snap-called.

Barer: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Rabinowitz: {5-Diamonds}{5-Spades}

Rabinowitz's rail, which included Joe Kuether, Ryan Riess, and Bryan Campanello, were on their feet and calling for a five. The {j-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop didn't do it, but it opened up some runner-runner possibilities.

"Any two across is good," Campanello bellowed. Indeed it would have been, but it was the three-across {6-Clubs} that opened up the gutshot straight draw possibility. Unfortunately for Rabinowitz and his supporters, the {A-Diamonds} blanked on the river to send him home in fourth place for AU$450,000.

Rabinowitz Four-Bet Shoves

Level 30 : 60,000/120,000, 10,000 ante

Darren Rabinowitz raised to 240,000 from the cutoff, Ami Barer three-bet to 640,000 on the button, and both Sorel Mizzi and Jake Balsiger folded. Rabinowitz tanked for nearly two minutes before moving all in, and Barer folded.

Balsiger vs. Mizzi

Level 30 : 60,000/120,000, 10,000 ante

Jake Balsiger opened for 240,000 under the gun and Sorel Mizzi defended from the big blind. When the flop came down {5-Spades}{a-Clubs}{7-Spades}, Balsiger continued for 250,000 and Mizzi folded. That hand was indicative of what we've been seeing the last ten minutes or so.

All in and Call!

Level 30 : 60,000/120,000, 10,000 ante

...and chop.

Jake Balsiger was first to act, and raised to 240,000. Darren Rabinowitz three-bet to 550,000 on the button, both blinds released, and Balsiger called.

The flop fell {3-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, Rabinowitz led out for 420,000, and Balsiger moved all in. Rabinowitz snap-called.

Balsiger: {q-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Rabinowitz: {q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

Both players started pulling their bets back as the turn and river came {a-Spades}, {4-Diamonds} respectively, and the rest of the pot was chopped.
