Walquist Takes Out Salmela

Level 21 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante

Kalle Salmela opened from late position with {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} before he called a jam for more than 300,000 from Ronald Walquist with {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}. Salmela, who was covered by the raise, made the call.

Walquist shouted in joy after the {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{2-Hearts} board was a safe one for him and Salmela quietly left the tournament in 29th place.

Kekalainen Ousts Koistinen

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Mikael Juhani Koistinen
Mikael Juhani Koistinen

Mikael Koistinen jammed for 165,000 from late position with {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and was called by Pyry Kekalainen in the big blind with {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}.

Koistenen still had reason for hope after the {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts} came on the flop. Despite his opponent nailing top pair, Koistenen had many outs with a flush draw.

Neither the {2-Hearts} on the turn nor the {j-Diamonds} on the river were cards he was looking for and he was ousted in 30th place.

Snowmen No Good for Molderkivi

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Rain Molderkivi open-jammed from middle position for 160,000 with {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} and was called by Anders Auset in the small blind with {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}.

Auset was ahead throughout the hand with the {9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Spades} hitting the board and Molderkivi was the third Estonian to hit the rail during the first blind level of the final day.

Shriki Cracks Haaviste's Aces

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Renta Eline Kris Gatos opened from the cutoff for 27,000 before Adam Shriki jammed for 220,000 from the button. Annika Haaviste went over the top for a bit more and Gatos folded.

Shriki needed a lot of help to survive as he turned over {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} and was well behind the {a-Spades}{a-Clubs} held by Haaviste. The {5-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{3-Diamonds} flop gave him a backdoor flush draw.

"Diamond!" shouted Shriki after the {10-Diamonds} came on the turn.

"Yes!" shouted Shriki after the {q-Diamonds} competed the board on the river to give him the flush.

"Unbelievable suckout," said Haaviste visibly upset about her aces being cracked.

Shriki apologized but it fell on deaf ears as Haaviste was still taking in the bad beat.

Everyone Loves a Chop

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Sturla Hiller began the day as a short stack. Although he has yet to find a double-up, he has managed to survive thus far.

In a recent hand, Mathias Siljander opened to 27,000 from early position before Hiller jammed for six big blinds from middle position. Siljander snap-called and turned over {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}. Hiller also had {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs} and Peter Hedlund who is making friends with everyone at the table commented: "I hope you both chop."

A chop is exactly what took place as the {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{a-Spades} board gave neither player a flush.

Hustig and Suvi Hit the Rail

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Kristian Hustig three-bet jammed from the big blind with {5-Clubs}{5-Spades} for less than 200,000 and got a call from the under-the-gun opener Peter Hedlund with {a-Spades}{9-Spades}.

Hustig was in trouble after Hedlund paired the {8-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{a-Clubs} flop. Neither the {7-Clubs} on the turn nor the {10-Hearts} on the river were able to save him and Hustig was eliminated in 33rd place.

Meanwhile, at the same time, Kalle Suvi was eliminated in 34th place after he jammed pocket fours unsuccessfully into the pocket aces held by Kasso Laasik.

Siljander Doubles Gatos First Hand

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

On the very first hand of the day, Mathias Siljander jammed from the small blind with {k-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and was called by Renta Eline Kris Gatos with 171,000 to start the hand from the big blind with {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

It was just about over on the flop with Gatos nailing a set on the {7-Clubs}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds} board. Siljander was drawing dead after the {q-Spades} came on the turn. The {5-Diamonds} completed the board on the river to make the double up for Gatos official.
