Quarter Mil for Wiese

Daniel Negreanu raised to 135k preflop, flat called in position by Andreas Wiese and out of it by Michael Eiler.

The flop: {6-Spades}{K-Clubs}{6-Clubs}. Two checks put the action on Wiese, who bet 225k. It took just seconds for both opponents to fold and hand him another tidy pot, evening out the chips on the table even further. We could be in for a battle between more than the three Day 2-4 chip leaders...

Andreas Wiese Doubles up Through Daniel Negreanu

Andreas Wiese
Andreas Wiese

Team Pokerstars Pro Daniel Negreanu has been quite vocal in the past two days at the tables. The dialogue has mainly been focussed on the contrast between good old fashioned live pros and the new up and coming internet pros who have made the live transition.

He had just declared to the table that he was chicken for not pushing more often with three short stacks to his direct left and made a comment about how internet players would probably do that. Then after finishing his comment he opened for 120,000 from the cut-off. Lotze folded on the button and Andreas Wiese shoved from the Small Blind. Team Pokerstars Pro Martin Hruby folded from the Big Blind and Negreanu made the call.

Negreanu: {10-Clubs} {10-Diamonds}

Wiese: {q-Hearts} {q-Clubs}

Board: {a-Diamonds} {7-Clubs} {q-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} {4-Diamonds}

The board was no help to Negreanu and Wiese doubled up to 1,395,000.

The Future's Brito

Fernando Brito back on Day 2
Fernando Brito back on Day 2

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the casino, Fernando Brito has taken down the €10,000 NLH side event, for €90,000, defeating Rob Hollink heads up. Although Mr. Brito doesn't get any points for this one (it drew only 13 runners, plus [Removed:283] who won this event in Vilamoura rebought once), the Portuguese-born businessman currently tops the Season 7 leader board anyway.

51 year old Brito, who now lives in Brazil, came sixth in the EPT London Main Event as well as taking down a side event there. He also came second in a side event at EPT Vilamoura. A most impressive performance - particularly given that he's only been playing poker for 18 months or so.

Free Show From Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Konstantinos Nanos, who has been extremely active with his pre flop raises opens for 150,000. Team Pokerstars Pro Daniel Negreanu decides enough is enough and makes the three-bet to 425,000 from the Big Blind. Both players are very deep but Nanos decided he did not want to peel one off out of position and folds.

"Free Show - Guys." says Negreanu as he displays big slick.

No Action on This Action Flop

Daniel Negreanu made it 135,000 to go and Michael Eiler called in the big blind to see the actioniest of action flops - {10-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{k-Hearts}. However, both players checked.

Eiler checked the {3-Spades} turn as well, and then called a 200,000 bet from Negreanu. He checked again on the {k-Diamonds} river and this time Negreanu checked behind, showing a three for two pair, kings and threes. Eiler turned over {10-}{9-} for two pair, kings and tens, and the smallish pot was his.

Chip Count Update

Team Pokerstars Pro Daniel Negreanu ~ 4,220,000

Konstantinos Nanos ~ 3,810,000

Michael Eiler ~ 3,640,000

Luca Cainelli ~ 3,300,000

Matthias Lotze ~ 1,075,000

Team Pokerstars Pro Matrin Hruby ~ 615,000

Andreas Wiese ~ 610,000

Negreanu Won't Draw Lotze

Daniel Negreanu opened to 135k and Matthias Lotze on his left took the opportunity to reraise all in for 820k. Everyone else folded and it was back to Negreanu, who had a glance at Lotze's stack and a quick conversation with himself concerning whether or not Lotze cared whether he got a call or not (Lotze himself maintained radio silence) and then finally passed. This was a pretty chunky pot with no showdown for one of the shorter-stacked players at the final, and his stack tops a million chips now.

Andreas Wiese Shoves

Andreas Wiese

The action folds around to Andreas Wiese in the Small Blind and Team Pokerstars Pro Martin Hruby is in the Big Blind. Wiese who has ~525,000 behind him only has two moves in his arsenal - all-in or fold. He decides to use the all-in move and Hruby folds.

Little for Lotze

Matthias Lotze, our official short stack, open-shoved but got no callers. A couple hand later and he did it again - this time from the big blind, to a small blind limp from Daniel Negreanu. Negreanu decided against, and Lotze picked up another set of blinds and antes. He's still at what looks like less than 900,000 though.

I Had the Nuts!

Diamonds are Daniel's Best Friend
Diamonds are Daniel's Best Friend

So far most of the uncontested pots are being won by either Michael Eiler, Konstantinos Nanos or Team Pokerstars Pro Daniel Negreanu as the three big stacks take control of this final table.

Nanos decided to contest one of Negreanu's raises when he defended his Big Blind against Kid Poker. Negreanu made it 150,000 to play and Nanos called to make it a 300,000 pot going to the flop. It was a diamond only board with {k-Diamonds} {j-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds} and Nanos checked the action over to Negreanu who made the bet - 185,000. Nanos, chewing gum and riffling his chips decided to fold.

"I was hoping you would raise me. I only had the nuts." Nergeanu said.
