Jacobson Doubles Through Claudepierre

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 5,000 ante

It folded around to Julien Claudepierre in the small blind, who raised to 230,000. Martin Jacobson in the big blind made the call.

Claudepierre bet out 240,000 on the {a-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{q-Spades} flop and Jacobson called before both players checked the {10-Diamonds} turn. They saw an {a-Diamonds} river and Claudepierre now bet out 420,000. Over to Jacobson, who tanked up for a while - and then announced all in. Claudepierre paused, assessing the relative pot and stack sizes. Then he called, but mucked when Jacobson turned over {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for a flush, dropping to 3.5 million. Jacobson's double up was to exactly 5.5 million, putting him right back in contention, now third in chips.

Rats Are Bigger Than Wice

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 5,000 ante
Lucien Cohen Bags Some Wice
Lucien Cohen Bags Some Wice

We believe Lucien Cohen is in the pest control business hence the presence of his large black rat. Alex Wice is a pest to everyone on the table so it is no surprise that Cohen has his eye on him.

Cohen raised to 190,000 and Wice three-bet from the small blind making it 550,000 to play and Cohen called. The flop was {4-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {4-Spades} and Wice bet 550,000 and Cohen snap called. The turn was the {9-Hearts} and Wice bet 2 million, covering Cohen's stack, and Cohen snap called.

Cohen rose to his feet and started shouting and screaming in his native tongue. The black rat made another appearance much to the annoyance of everyone on the table. Cohen had made a full house on the turn {9-Diamonds} {9-Spades} and Wice was drawing dead {a-Clubs} {q-Clubs}.

Full chip counts will follow this post.

Renga, Nuts Again

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 5,000 ante

Now, the two previous hands we've seen Kaspars Renga with have been aces where he's doubled up both times.

This time, with he called Lucien Cohen's 180,000 raise from the big blind with only about 700,000 back.

The {K-Hearts} {A-Hearts} {K-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {9-Spades} board was checked down to the river where Renga bet 220,000 and Cohen folded {8-Spades} {8-Clubs} face up. Renga flipped {J-Hearts} {10-Hearts} for a Royal Flush.

Renga moves back over the 1 million mark.

Slightly Down, Then Slightly Up for Jacobson

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 5,000 ante

Former chip leader fallen on hard times Martin Jacobson continues to enjoy mixed fortunes.

First up, he min-raised under the gun but was faced with a button shove from Kenny Hallaert for 1,749,000 (we've still got the piddling T1,000 chips on the table). Jacobson thought about it for a while, but eventually folded, dipping further to 2.15 million.

Next hand, though, Jacobson reraised from the big blind to what looked like around 350,000 to a min-raise from Alex Wice. Wice insta-folded (we commend him for his extraordinary speed at the table) and Jacobson scraped back a few chips to put him up to roughly 2.4 million.

Level 28 Update

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 5,000 ante

Kenny Hallaert opened to 170,000 and took down the blinds and antes. Then it was Alex Wice and Martin Jacobson's turn to steal the blinds and antes.

The action folded around to Alex Wice in the small blind and he shoved 2 million over the line. This is a regular move we have seen Wice make throughout the tournament and Hallaert folded in the big blind. Claudepierre took down the blinds and antes followed by again by Wice we got to see a flop. It happened after Lucien Cohen raised to 190,000 and Jacobson three-bet all-in for around 2,155,000 more. Cohen reached into his bag and pulled out his big plastic black rat and placed it on the table staring at Jacobson who didn't seem to find it funny. Cohen folded after speaking to his rat for about three minutes.

Claude Back Some Chips

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 5,000 ante

Lucien Cohen isn't big on the folding once he has something. He limped in the small blind against Julien Claudepierre, the latter promptly raising to 230,000 and Cohen calling instantly.

Both players checked the {A-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {8-Clubs} flop before Cohen led for 300,000 on the {3-Hearts} turn which Claudepierre quickly called. The river was the {5-Clubs} and Cohen checked again, but wasted little hesitation in matching Claudepierre's 550,000 bet. The latter turned over {A-Spades} {A-Hearts} though and Cohen mucked, a million chips going the other way.

Micro-Double Up for Renga

Level 28 : 40,000/80,000, 5,000 ante
Kaspars Renga
Kaspars Renga

Julien Claudepierre min-raised from the button and Kaspars Renga flat-called from the big blind, with just 450,000 behind - little more than five big blinds. Renga checked the {a-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop, and then folded to an 80,000 min-bet from Claudepierre.

The next hand Claudepierre min-raised again, and this time Renga shoved from the small blind. A call, and a double up to 1 million for the perma-short stack - he'd found aces again.

Renga: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
Claudepierre: {a-Hearts}{9-Spades}

Board: {j-Spades}{q-Spades}{3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}
