Jelassi Retakes The Chip Lead

David Boyaciyan open-limped the small blind and Ramzi Jelassi checked. Boyaciyan checked to Jelassi on the draw heavy {6-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop, but when Jelassi bet 350,000 Boyaciyan check-raised to 700,000. Jelassi called and the dealer put out the {8-Diamonds} turn.

Boyaciyan did not slow down, he bet 700,000 and Jelassi called. The {Q-Hearts} on the river was checked by both players.

Jelassi showed {6-Hearts}{6-Spades} for a set of sixes, and it was good against the {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} of Boyaciyan.

No Betting the Nuts?

Sotirios Koutoupas took another pot of Ramzi Jelassi but he failed to get any extra value once he made the nuts.

Jealssi raised to 200,000 from the button and Koutoupas peeled from the big blind to see a {q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop. Both players checked before Koutoupas check-called a 200,000 bet on the {6-Diamonds} turn. Both players then went back to checking on the {9-Diamonds} river.

Jelassi declared a seven and opened {a-Clubs}{7-Spades}. Surprisingly Koutoupas opened {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for a back-door nut flush.

Koutoupas Grows In Confidence

Level 30 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante

Sotirios Koutoupas has grown in confidence over the last couple of orbits and is not a million miles away from being the chip leader.

In a hand that has just been completed and on a flop reading {7-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, Koutoupas checked from the small blind, David Boyaciyan tried his luck with a 225,000 bet and Koutoupas called.

Neither player seemed interested in the {K-Hearts} turn and they both checked, but Koutoupas lead out for 475,000 on the {10-Clubs} river and Boyaciyan released his hand.

Jelassi Loses Massive Pot

Level 30 : 50,000/100,000, 10,000 ante

Sotirios Koutoupas opened to 210,000 from the button and then called as Ramzi Jelassi three-bet to 565,000 from the big blind.

The flop came down {2-Spades}{k-Clubs}{q-Clubs} and Jelassi lead out with a 375,000 pot and Koutoupas called. The {6-Spades} was greeted with a 1,000,000 bet from Jelassi and a call from his Greek opponent. The {4-Clubs} river saw Jelassi check and Koutoupas instantly checked behind.

Neither player showed their hands, but Jelassi mucked his hand and Koutoupas helped himself to the giant pot.

Diego Gomez Eliminated in 5th Place ( €196,000)

Diego Gomez - 5th place
Diego Gomez - 5th place

After a couple of successful shoves Diego Gomez found himself a caller the third timed he tried it.

The action folded around the fun-loving Spaniard in the small blind and he open shoved for 1,840,000. David Boyaciyan looked down at a monster in the big blind and called.

Gomez: {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}
Boyaciyan, {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}

The board ran {k-Hearts}{9-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades} and Gomez left to a polite round of applause.

The remaining four players are on a short break before the new level begins.

Warrington Doubles Up By Cracking Kings!

Ramzi Jelassi and Ben Warrington
Ramzi Jelassi and Ben Warrington

Ben Warrington is up to almost 1.9 million thanks to his lowly ace-four cracking Ramzi Jelassi's kings.

Jelassi opened from the button and then snap-called when Warrington three-bet all-in for 860,000 in the small blind. Warrington turned over {A-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and was in a whole world of pain against the red kings of his Swedish opponent.

The dealer burned a card before putting the wheel-completing {3-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs} flop — gifting Warrington a straight! The {A-Spades} turn drew some oohs and ahhs from the crowd as a four would split the pot. Any fears of that happening were soon dismissed though as the river was the {j-Hearts} and Warrington doubled up.

You may remember that the now-bust Aleh Plauski had similar luck with a baby ace, his ace-deuce cracking the pocket kings of Andreas Berggren when the flop came down all deuces! Maybe small aces are better hands than we give them credit for?
