Event #7: $25K GTD 6-Max NLH

Day 1 Completed

Congratulations to "Core4", Winner of the $25,000 Guaranteed 6-Max Event!

The Friday Night event of this latest partypoker US Network Online Series saw a total of 154 players do battle at short handed tables all night long. In the end, it was "Core4" who would emerge victorious over the rest of the field, taking home a nice payday of $8,008.

The final 18 players finished in the money tonight, and amongst those who cashed, but didnt make the final table, were Mike MistaMenza Menzer (17th), Ryan simlSgg Hagerty (14th), Jon Jetsfan411 Borenstein (10th), and Stanton "Stonniepokes" Tentnowski (8th). For Hagerty, he just missed out on his third straight final table this series, after winning the last two events over the last two days.

Here is how the final table stacked up when play began. Multiple short stack shoves went uncalled until chen718 busted in sixth place, when his King-Ten fell to the Ace-Five of ndirish50.

Next to bust was the lone known pro at the final table, Michael IIIIIIIIIIIII Haberman. He busted out after calling a big bet on the turn and river of this hand, with the final bet being for all of his stack. His second pair was no good though, and he would bust out in fifth.

The next player to hit the rail was yolegacy. He was down to just a few big blinds when he got his stack in the middle with {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, but he was miles behind the {a-Spades}{10-Spades} of Jason RiverMan Lawhun. Another ten came on the flop, and though he turned a flush draw on the turn, yolegacy didnt catch any help on the river.

Three handed play lasted just a few hands before Lawhun busted ndirish50 in third. Lawhun held a baby pair, while ndirish50 showed Ace-Queen, but the board ran down ten high, securing the victory for Lawhun.

When heads up play started, Lawhun and Core4 were virtually even in chips, but Core4 would take a big lead early, and then end the tournament in style. He would slow play pocket aces until he got his opponent to shove the turn drawing to just four outs, and the aces would hold, giving him the crown.

For his efforts, Core4 will take home $8,008. Congratulations to him on his big victory, and dont forget that this series rolls on with two more big events this weekend. First, a $215 buy-in $25,000 Guaranteed Event starts at 8 PM ET time tomorrow, and the series wraps up with the massive $100,000 Guaranteed 8-Max Main Event on Sunday afternoon.

Jason RiverMan Lawhun Eliminated in 2nd Place ($4,620)

Blinds: 30,000/60,000

"Core4" kicked the action off with a raise to 120,000, and Jason RiverMan Lawhun went for a three bet to 480,000. "Core4" called, and the flop came down {6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. Lawhun continued for 540,000, "Core4" called, and the {2-Hearts} hit the turn. Lawhun went for it all, shoving for about 1.7 million, and "Core4" beat him into the pot with {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}. He was miles ahead of the {q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} of Lawhun, who would only survive if a miracle five came on the river.

That card was the {10-Spades} though, giving the hand, and the title, to "Core4". Stay tuned for a full recap to be posted shortly.

Massive River Shove From "Core4"

Blinds: 30,000/60,000

Catching up with the action on the turn of a board showing {q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{6-Hearts}, Jason RiverMan Lawhun led for 210,000. "Core4" raised to 690,000, Lawhun called, and the {4-Diamonds} completed the board. Lawhun checked, and "Core4" went for a huge shove 2.5 million effective, more than the pot size.

Lawhun thought for a while before folding, giving a big lead over to "Core4" in the process.

ndirish50 Eliminated in 3rd Place ($3,388)

Blinds: 25,000/50,000

ndirish50 and Jason RiverMan Lawhun raised it up until all of the former's chips were in the middle. He held {a-Hearts}{q-Spades}, and he was flipping against the pocket threes of Lawhun. The board came down {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, and the baby pair held to send a big pot over to Lawhun.

Just like that, heads up play has started, with "Core4" holding the slightest of leads.

yolegacy" Eliminated in 4th Place ($2,464)

Blinds: 25,000/50,000

After a raise from "Core4", and a call from Jason RiverMan Lawhun, yolegacy" shoved all in for about 380,000. "Core4" folded, but Lawhun called with {a-Spades}{10-Spades}. He was in great shape against the {a-Clubs}{2-Clubs} of yolegacy", and that led would be increased after the flop came down {k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades}. The {q-Clubs} turn did give yolegacy" some hope with a flush draw, but the {9-Diamonds} on the river didn't bring any help.

With that, just three players remain. "Core4" still holds a comfortable lead at the moment.

"ndirish50" Doubles Through "RiverMan"

Blinds: 20,000/40,000

"ndirish50" and Jason RiverMan Lawhun went heads up to a flop of {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, and after Lawhun checked to "ndirish50", he fired 102,000. Lawhun came in for a check raise to 320,000, but "ndirish50" wasn't going anywhere, moving all in for 630,000 and change.

Lawhun called with {9-Spades}{8-Diamonds}, but he was well behind the {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs} of "ndirish50." The {7-Hearts} turn and {3-Clubs} rivrer changed nothing, and "ndirish50" secured the double up.

"Core4" Leads the Final Four

After winning a nice pot where he flopped a full house, "Core4" has begun to pull away from the rest of the group. He now sits with a comfortable chip lead, but with the short stack having over 15 big blinds, there is still plenty of poker left to be played.

Michael Haberman
Michael Haberman

Blinds: 18,000/36,000

Catching up with the action on the turn of a board showing {q-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, Michael IIIIIIIIIIIII Haberman checked to Jason RiverMan Lawhun, who put out a near pot sized bet of 225,000. Haberman called, and the {3-Clubs} completed the board.

Haberman checked again, and Lawhun shoved all in, having Haberman covered. Haberman thought for quite a while before calling with {k-Clubs}{9-Hearts} for second pair, but it was no good, as Lawhun showed {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs} for top pair top kicker.

chen718 Eliminated in 6th Place ($1,416.80)

Blinds: 18,000/36,000

There were a handful of open and three bet shoves that went uncalled in the first few minutes of the final table. Then, "chen718 would become the first victim of the final table after he shoved his short stack in on the button with {k-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. He was called by "ndirish50" in the big blind, who showed {a-Hearts}{5-Clubs}.

The flop of {a-Spades}{9-Hearts}{2-Clubs} all but ended the hand, and while a king came on the turn to give "chen718 a sliver of hope, the {4-Hearts} river brought no more help.
