Sammartino Closes the Gap with Beckley

Level 26 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Dario Sammartino had been the shortest stack in the tournament for three straight levels, but he just managed to chip up enough to edge into third place.

Nick Maimone just raised to 140,000 and Dario Sammartino called from the big blind. The flop brought out {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{8-Spades} and both players checked, after which Sammartino bet 125,000 on the {6-Clubs} turn.

Maimone made the call and the river was the {K-Spades}, on which Sammartino bet another 375,000.

Maimone gave it serious consideration before finally putting in the call. Sammartino showed {9-Spades}{7-Spades} for a flush and he took down the pot.

Chipping Away

Level 26 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Nick Maimone and Sean Winter are using their chip stacks to run rough trod over the shorter stacks. There haven't been any flops in the last dozen hands or so, and more times than not it's Maimone and Winter taking down the blinds and antes.

Brian Yoon Eliminated in 5th Place ($347,760)

Brian Yoon - 5th Place
Brian Yoon - 5th Place

Nick Maimone opened for 140,000 under the gun and action folded to Brian Yoon, who moved all in from the big blind for 1.035 million. Maimone thought about it for roughly a minute and then spiked in a call.

Yoon: {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}
Maimone: {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}

"Jack, queen, or king," Maimone told his rail after the {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{10-Spades} flop delivered him a gutshot to Broadway. The {Q-Spades} turn was one of his cards, and suddenly Yoon was looking for a five on the river to stay alive.

Unfortunately for him, it wasn't in the cards as the {K-Hearts} blanked. Yoon will take home $347,760 for his fifth-place finish.

Beckley Drops Some to Winter

Level 26 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Josh Beckley raised to 130,000 and Sean Winter called from the big blind. The flop came down {9-Spades}{4-Clubs}{9-Hearts} and Winter check-called a bet of 155,000.

On the turn the {6-Hearts} hit and now Winter check-called 220,000.

The river brought the {J-Diamonds} and Winter checked a third time. Beckley opted to check behind, and Winter tossed his cards high up in the air showing {J-Hearts}{J-Spades} for a full house. Beckley mucked and Winter took down this pot.

Winter is Coming... and He's Bringing A Lot of Chips With Him

Level 26 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Sean Winter raised to 130,000 from the cutoff, Nick Maimone called from the small blind, and the both players checked the {5-Hearts}{a-Spades}{q-Diamonds} flop. After the dealer burned and turned the {6-Diamonds}, Maimone checked, Winter bet 155,000, and Maimone check-raised to 400,000.

Winter took his time before making the call and the {7-Hearts} completed the board on the river. Maimone led out for 520,000, and Winter responded by moving all in for 580,000 more. Maimone didn't seem thrilled, but he called with the {6-Clubs}{6-Spades} for a turned set. He didn't seem surprised to see Winter roll over a better hand, but he didn't seem to expect the {8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for the rivered gutshot.
