Phil Hellmuth Shows the Goods

Level 21 : 20,000/40,000, 30,000 ante

Steffen Sontheimer raised the button to 90,000 holding the {k-Spades}{3-Spades} and then called when Phil Hellmuth three-bet to 220,000 with the {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} in the small blind.

Both players checked the {4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{q-Hearts} flop and then Hellmuth, who had top pair with a club draw, bet a paltry 75,000 on the {7-Hearts} turn.

Hellmuth made the flush on the {8-Clubs} river and bet 140,000, which left him just 35,000 back. Sontheimer quickly folded.

Hellmuth then showed the table his hand.

Pocket Rockets Propel Christian Christner to a Double

Level 20 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Steffen Sontheimer raised to 70,000 holding the {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs} in the cutoff and Christian Christner just called from the small blind with the {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}. Fedor Holz came along from the big with the {a-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and the flop came down {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}.

Holz checked, Sontheimer continued for 40,000 with his flush draw, and Christner just called. Holz got out of the way and it was heads-up action to the {8-Spades} turn.

Christner checked again and then snap-called off for 410,000 when Sontheimer moved in.

The {q-Diamonds} river failed to help Sontheimer, and he sent some chips over to his German counterpart.

Christian Christner Slips to the Short Stack

Level 20 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Fedor Holz looked down at the {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds} under the gun and raised to 65,000.Start-of-the-day chip leader Christian Christner defended from the big blind with the {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.

Christner then checked the {9-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop and folded when Holz bet 60,000. Not a big hand, but it did drop Christner to the short stack.

Sick River Gives Tom Marchese a Rebate

Level 19 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Fedor Holz raised the button holding the {a-Spades}{j-Spades} and Tom Marchese three-bet to 235,000 from the small blind with the {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. Holz called and the flop fell {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}.

Marchese continued for 175,000 and Holz just called with two pair. Marchese then checked the {j-Diamonds} turn and Holz bet just 140,000 with his full boat.

Marchese called and was in store to lose some chips, that is until the case {a-Clubs} spiked on the river to give both players aces full of jacks.

Marchese checked and Holz used a time extension before betting a tiny 95,000. Marchese check-raised to 300,000, Holz shoved, and Marchese called off. Chop it up!

Adrian Mateos Eliminated in 6th Place ($150,000)

Level 19 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Adrian Mateos - 6th Place
Adrian Mateos - 6th Place

Adrian Mateos, one of two players to make back-to-back final tables here in the Poker Masters, was just eliminated in sixth place, one spot better than he finished yesterday.

It happened when Steffen Sontheimer raised to 70,000 holding the {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} and then called Mateos' three-bet shove for 740,000. Mateos got it in good with the {7-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, but he fell behind on the {8-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} flop.

Neither the {j-Hearts} turn nor {9-Hearts} river helped Mateos, and he was ousted in sixth place for $150,000. Along with the $127,500 he won yesterday, he now has $277,500 in Poker Masters earnings thus far.

Holz called and then check-called a bet of 155,000 on the {a-Spades} turn.

Both players then checked the {6-Hearts} river and Holz won the pot with two pair.

Bryn Kenney Eliminated in 7th Place ($125,000)

Level 19 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante
Bryn Kenney - 7th Place
Bryn Kenney - 7th Place

Action folded to the short-stacked Bryn Kenney on the button and he moved all in for a little over 300K, which Steffen Sontheimer called from the big blind.

Kenney: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Sontheimer: {a-Spades}{7-Clubs}

It was a flip, but not after the flop came down {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{a-Diamonds} to pair Sontheimer. The {j-Hearts} turn gave Kenney chop outs to a ten, but the {5-Spades} river was a brick.
