Kanit Priced Out

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Mustapha Kanit
Mustapha Kanit

Mustapha Kanit min-raised from the cutoff and Ollie Price decided to defend his big blind and made the call to take play heads-up the {10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{6-Hearts} flop.

Price checked it over to Kanit, who led for 10,000, only to see Price quickly check-raise to 24,000 in total. This triggers a flurry of action and Kanit quickly shoved and was called instantly.

Mustapha Kanit: {10-Spades}{9-Spades}
Ollie Price: {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}

Kanit was the at risk player and held the narrowest of narrow leads with his nine kicker and while the Italian high-stakes specialist hit two pairs on the {9-Clubs} turn this also completed Price’s gutshot straight.

With no eight making an appearance on the river Kanit tapped the table and headed for the rail, while Price raked in a chunky pot.

The Wild Ride Continues

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Mikita Badziakouski, Rafael Moraes and Daniel Dvoress have been able to build their stacks before the end of the re-entry period while Timothy Adams just took a massive hit to his stack, forfeiting all but 17,000 in the process. Adams had the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} in the big blind and clashed with Zhao Hongjun's {K-Clubs}{K-Spades} on a board of {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{J-Hearts}.

The next hand, Hongjun raised to 10,000 and was called by Kahle Burns on the button. On the {A-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop, both players invested 22,000 each. Hongjun then checked the {K-Clubs} turn and Burns bet 38,5000 in order to force a fold from his sole opponent.

JC Alvarado on the same table is already on his second bullet, while Oliver Weis' seat is now occupied by short stack Adams.

Troyanovskiy Wins Flip against Loeser

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

A raising war broke out between Manig Loeser and Vladimir Troyanovskiy and the latter ended up being all in and at risk for his last 165,500 with {10-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. Loeser took the flip with {A-Spades}{J-Spades}, but failed to catch anything on a board of {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{4-Clubs}.

Moving and Shaking

Level 8 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

It’s like a game of musical chairs at present with players busting, re-entering and just being moved to balance tables, which is making it tough to follow all of the action.

Isaac Haxton is – well more accurately was – on his second bullet but it looks as though that didn’t work out that well for him either as he is now headed for the rail.

Fabian Quoss is another player having a second bite of the cherry, though the German player seems to be having more success than Haxton did the second time around and is sitting on a stack of just over 330,000.

Following an under-the-gun min raise Quoss, sitting UTG+1, re-popped to 25,000 and action folded around to Adrian Attenborough in the small blind who quickly announced ‘all-in’.

Quoss asked for a count – it’s 135,500 – and looked interested but eventually chose not to chance it and made the fold.

“I only had pocket threes,” said Attenborough as he raked in the pot.

“That’s enough,” replied Quoss.

There are around 20 minutes left on the clock on level eight as we write this, with the re-entry period finishing after the break at the end of this level so we will be able to give you some prize pool information and the like shortly.

Moraes Doubles Through Wang

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Rafael Moraes and Chinqing Wang became involved in a button versus big blind pre-flop raising war with all the chips finding their way into the middle.

Moraes in the man to pull the trigger first, shoving from the button for a little over 96,000 and Wang thought it over before announcing the call.

Rafael Moraes: {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Chinqing Wang: {6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}

Moraes instantly paired his ten when the flop fell {2-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and with no diamond in hand Wang was left drawing to the deck’s two remaining sixes.

The {8-Diamonds} turn and {k-Hearts} river were of no help and Moraes climbed to 195,000 while Wang took the hit stoically to drop to 50,500.

Kozlov Doubles Through Li; Loeser Jams Into Another Li

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Manig Loeser raised to 9,000 and Shuo Li three-bet to 22,000 from one seat over, which the German called. On the {7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop, Loeser checked and Li bet 30,000. Loeser check-raised all in for 97,500 and Li elected to fold.

Li is quite a popular name here in China, so it comes as no surprise that another Li is in the field. That would be Juicy Li, who just doubled short stack Martin Kozlov. Li had earlier cracked the aces of Kozlov with ace-king, now her {Q-}{9-} had a flip against the {7-Spades}{7-Hearts} of Kozlov.

While the {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} flop improved Li to a pair of nines, Kozlov got there on the {5-Diamonds} turn and the {3-Hearts} river changed nothing. Li dropped back to starting stack, while Kozlov is just below that.

The Lucky Mango Strikes Again

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Dan Smith
Dan Smith

The cards of JC Alvarado were all but rushed away, as his pocket jacks were no match to the {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} of Dan Smith. Just prior to the hand, Steve O'Dwyer asked Smith if he wanted some mango and the American jumped over to grab a piece before he looked up Alvarado for some 100,000 with the inferior pocket pair. Next you'd see a board of {9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds} that gave Smith quads and Alvarado was jinxed out by the magic mango.

Smith then told an extra story shortly after: When O'Dwyer was short, he tried to sell the lucky mango and the best offer was 20 HKD. Someone offered 100 USD and O'Dwyer declined, then started eating the mango slices.

Sammartino Doubles

Level 7 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

A short-stacked Dario Sammartino moved all-in from under-the-gun for his last 17,000 and was quickly called by Chinqing Wang in the big blind.

Dario Sammartino: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Chinqing Wang: {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

Sammartino spiked his king when the flop came down {8-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{k-Clubs} and earned the double-up when the {6-Clubs} turn and {j-Spades} river rolled off to complete the hand.
