Magee Burns shoved all in for his last 60,000 or so from the cutoff and was called by Kevin Koch out of the big blind.
Magee Burns:
Kevin Koch:
Burns was favored to double up before the runout, though a flop of brought the number of cards he needed to fade from three to seven. The turn paired the board, giving him further cards to sweat in order to fade the chop. The river spelled doom for him, giving Koch a wheel and sending him to the payout desk as a result.
In the meantime, Koch is now just shy of a half-million, finding himself with a stack of 498,000.
Mykel Comroe opened to 15,000 from early position and saw Jack Venable three-bet all in for around 70,000 from the small blind. Comroe thought for a bit and decided to make the call.
Jack Venable:
Mykel Comroe:
The flop came in Comroe's favor, and the rest of the runout would only continue in that matter as the turn gave him kings up and the river further improved him to a full house, sending Venable to the payout desk and bringing his stack north of 400,000 in the process.
Dennis Baker raised from early position to 15,000 and was three-bet by Chris Hight in middle position to 35,000. Action made its way back to Baker and he ripped it in for 162,000. Hight quickly called.
Dennis Baker:
Chris Hight:
The flop came to give Baker the three-outer he needed to stay alive in the tournament. He then needed to fade kings and running Broadway cards to fulfill his double and would do just that as the turn and river hit the felt, leaving him laughing jovially about the situation as Hight sat in slight disbelief.
Baker's stack was tallied for confirmation and Hight paid it off with a smile.
"That's a highlight!" said Baker, still riled up about his double. A few players at the table engaged and he broke out into song: "Don't give a damn about my reputation!"
