Greg Jennings Wins RGPS Downstream
Greg Jennings Wins RGPS Downstream

On Sunday night, Greg Jennings emerged as the winner of the RunGood Poker Series Downstream $575 Main Event. He won $38,179 and the Signature Championship Ring after topping a field of 332 entries.

Jennings had previously finished second two times and fourth once in RGPS Main Events and finally took the top spot at Oklahoma's Downstream Casino.

Jennings has $758,250 in career tournament winnings and after six RGPS final tables, he finally captured a RGPS title. Jennings arrived just in time to play Day 1c on Saturday and managed to win the tournament on one entry.

"RunGood's been really, really good to me over the years," he said after the win. "Yeah, this is special."

Jennings is now just $250,000 shy of breaking the $1 million mark for career tournament winnings.

Day 2 began with 62 players returning for their shot at the title and the ring. The top 36 players made the money and it was author and attorney Charles Aron who was the bubble, losing a three-way all in to Shawn Powers.

The field quickly whittled down to the final three tables and, as far as RGPS Main Events go, didn't take that much longer to wrap up.

The players reached the final table around 6:00 p.m. local time and it took Jennings about five hours to claim his first RGPS title.

7John Moore$5,611

9Matt Donaldson$4,001

Matt Donaldson was the first player to be eliminated from the official final table. He ran into the pocket queens of Marvin Donaldson and could not catch an ace. He took $4,001 for his ninth-place finish.

Then Travis Speck, who said he would finish eighth, was eliminated in that spot. He was left very short with only a 5,000 chip after losing a hand to Patrick Brown. Speck had queens against Brown's aces. Shortly after that crucial hand, Speck was eliminated by Larry Scharnhorst.

John Moore would exit in seventh place. He got all in with trips against Jennings, who had an open-ended straight draw. Jennings hit his draw and sent Moore to the rail.

It was Scharnhorst's turn to hit the rail in sixth place. He was eliminated by Tommy Smith who had two pair to beat Scharnhorst's top pair with top kicker.

John Lopez finished fifth after Jennings flopped two pair against him. Lopez got the last of his chips in on the turn and could not find a better two pair on the river.

Brown was the fourth-place finisher. He lost a big pot with aces shortly before he was eliminated. The final hand saw him get king-high and lose to the turned two pair of Smith.

Marvin Donaldson finished in third after falling to Jennings, who flopped top pair and called when Donaldson shoved second pair on the turn.

Jennings would go on to take the lead heads up and eventually knocked out Smith after getting it in behind with ace-six against ace-ten. Fortunately for Jennings, and much to the dismay of Smith, a six appeared on the flop to end the tournament.

That wraps up the RGPS Downstream stop. Next up for the RunGood Crew is RGPS Tulsa, which event kicks off with the highly-anticipated Poker Industry Tournament, a rake-free tournament held at the Tulsa Hard Rock on November 12.
