The Highs and Lows

Level 17 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Chris Damick had just raised and folded to an Andy Spears three bet, when he made it 40,000 and Spears came over the top again for a total of 115,000.

This time Damick called and shoved for some 250,000 on the {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop. Spears called with the {a-Spades}{q-Diamonds} and was behind Damick's {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts} until the {j-Diamonds} turn made him a flush.

However, the hand was far from over as Damick filled up on the {10-Spades} river to double through.

In the meantime, Josh Knight saw his hopes dashed in some kind of runner-runner debacle and 15 players head into the latest break.

Short Stacks Double

Level 17 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Ray Williams and Josh Knight have managed to climb out of the basement.

Knight won a flip for the first time in his illustrious part-time poker career. In the meantime, Williams limped and called off with {a-}{q-} when Sam Iraci shoved eights from the big blind.

Williams filled up and Iraci is the short stack now.

They've moved down to 20 players remaining in a flash.

In fact, a four-way all in pot just saw early chip leader Medhat Ramzy move into contention once again, knocking three players out in the process.

The long and short of it was Ramzy had pocket aces and remained ahead the whole way, boating up on the river.

Blake's On A Milly Now!

Level 15 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Blake Napierala

Chris Molica open-shoved for 49,000 and got the call from Blake Napierala before big stack Johannes Mueller shoved in behind for heaps.

Napierala took his time about it, but called with the {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts} for an additional 550,000 and his tournament life. Mueller was caught with the {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}.

Molica had the {j-Spades}{8-Spades} and actually boated up on the {8-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{8-Diamonds} board to survive. However, Napierala won the massive 1.1 million-chip side pot to grab the chip lead.

For those keeping score at home, Napierala fished runner-up in this event last summer and now looks like a shoe-in to go deep again after winning the biggest pot of the tournament so far.

Mueller Moves Up Top

Johannes Mueller
Johannes Mueller

Johannes Mueller has moved into the top spot on the leaderboard.

He turned {a-}{j-} into trip jacks and snap-called for all his chips on the river in what amounted to a 600,000-chip pot. His opponent mucked allowing Mueller to rake in the chip-lead.
