Bonomo Puts Koon to the Test

Level 21 : 20,000/40,000, 30,000 ante
Justin Bonomo
Justin Bonomo

Jason Koon made it 80,000 with {K-Hearts}{10-Spades} in the first position. Justin Bonomo had {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds} wanted to three-bet to 200,000 on the button but he had a dirty stack of 100,000-chip pile and accidentally moved in just 105,000 so his raised was ruled as click raise to 120,000.

This cheap price invited big blind Daniel Negreanu to the pot with {J-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Koon called as well.

The flop landed {9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts} and Bonomo fired 120,000. Negreanu folded and Koon opted to call with his top pair.

The {9-Clubs} turn was checked and Koon also checked the {J-Diamonds} river.

Bonomo, however, set his opponent all-in for 890,000. Koon wasted a bunch of his extension chips and he put the extra time to a good use, finally deciding to fold and saving himself in contention.

Negreanu Three-Bets Big

Level 21 : 20,000/40,000, 30,000 ante

Justin Bonomo made it 80,000 and Daniel Negreanu was in the small blind, sliding forward a three-bet to 400,000. Bonomo called.

Neither of the players had exactly a premium hand as Negreanu had {J-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Bonomo {10-Spades}{8-Spades}.

The {4-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Clubs} flop gave both players just some backdoor options and Negreanu ended the contest with a bet of 250,000.

Koon Pots River

Level 21 : 20,000/40,000, 30,000 ante

Jason Kooned min-raised with {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and Daniel Negrenu called in the big blind with {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}.

Negreanu got the better of the {4-Spades}{K-Clubs}{J-Spades} flop and check-called 60,000.

The {9-Clubs} turn gave Negreanu a flush draw but no bets were made this time.

The {7-Spades} bricked both players' draws but filled the flush draw from the flop. Negreanu checked and Koon used his nut blocker to fire a pot-sized bet, making it 300,000. Negreanu leant back in his chair but fairly quickly announced he was folding.

Negreanu Misses Backdoor Draw

Level 21 : 20,000/40,000, 30,000 ante

Daniel Negreanu opened under the gun for 100,000 with {j-Spades}{9-Spades} and Mikita Badziakouski defended big blind with {6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}.

Badziakouski check-called 60,000 on {a-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{6-Clubs} and turned two pair with {5-Spades}. He led out 100,000 and Negreanu called. Badziakouski fired big with 500,000 on the {q-Hearts} and Negreanu mucked immediately.

Take 10

Level 20 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Justin Bonomo and Daniel Negreanu played a final hand before break where they wound up chopping with jack-high after neither player bluffed the river when Bonomo missed a flush draw and Negreanu peeled turn with jack-ten high on {k-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} and the {a-Spades} hit.

Players are on break.

Where Do All the Players Come From?

Level 20 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Everyone believes that Germany runs the high-stakes tournament world, but when the player pool of the four Super High Roller Bowls are broken down, it is still the United States that reigns supreme.

Over the four years the Super High Roller Bowl has run, a total of 91 different players have taken a seat across the 196 entries (43 in 2015, 49 in 2016, 56 in 2017, and 48 in 2018). Of those 91 players, the majority have been from the United States with 60 representatives. Germany is next with 14, and then the United Kingdom sits at 4.

Ten countries then either have two or one players taking part in the Super High Roller Bowl with three of those coming this year with Mikita Badziakouski (Belarus), Kahle Burns (Australia), and Markus Durnegger (Austria) being first-time players.

Koon Doesn't Barrel Turn

Level 20 : 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Mikita Badziakouski had {10-Spades}{8-Hearts} on the button, raising to 75,000. Jason Koon peeled a very defendable {J-Spades}{9-Spades} in the big blind and called.

The {Q-Spades}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} flop brought something for everyone. Koon checked to Badziakouski who priced his middle pair at 65,000. Koon fired back, check-raising his open-ender to 215,000. Badziakouski, however, wasn't willing to back off and called.

The {3-Spades} massively improved Koon's draw. He reached to his stack but then hanged his mind and tapped. Badziakouski checked back to see the {9-Hearts} hit the river.

Koon picked up some showdown value and checked but he couldn't beat Badziakouski who checked back and took down the pot.
