O'Kearney Eliminated with Ace-Queen

Level 12 : 2,000/3,000, 3,000 ante
Dara O'Kearney
Dara O'Kearney

Dara O'Kearney was down to nine big blinds just before the level increased. He jammed with {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} from the hijack and the button called with {K-}{K-}.

The {J-}{8-}{6-} flop was of no help to O'Kearney. The {K-} gave his opponent a set but also opened up outs for a straight for O'Kearney. Luck was not on O'Kearney's side as the {9-} completed the board on the river and he was eliminated in 20th place.

Also eliminated during Level 11 were Andrzej Skoczylas and Michel Leibgorin.

Sinclair Doubles off Skalak

Level 11 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Vojtech Skalak limped the button before Jack Sinclair jammed from the big blind for 45,000. Skalak asked for a count before he called.

Vojtech Skalak: {K-Spades}{J-Spades}
Jack Sinclair: {K-Hearts}{6-Spades}

Skalak appeared to be in good shape before the flop and the {K-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} flop was a safe one. However, the {6-Hearts} appeared on the turn to give Sinclair two pair. The {7-Spades} on the river didn't help Skalak and Sinclair doubled up.

After the hand, Skalak had one of the shorter stacks in the room with 14,000 in chips.

Tahvonen Ousted

Level 11 : 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Rauno Tahvonen
Rauno Tahvonen

Unibet Poker Ambassador Rauno "Estonian Jesus" Tahvonen was just eliminated after losing back to back hands.

In the first hand, a player limped from the small blind and Tahvonen called. Both players checked the {J-Spades}{9-Spades}{Q-Clubs} flop before Tahvonen called a bet of 4,000 after the {5-Clubs} came on the turn.

Tahvonen's opponent fired out an overbet of 15,000 after the {7-Clubs} completed the board on the river. Tahvonen went into the tank and time was called on him. The countdown was down to four seconds before he made the call. Tahvonen held {j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and lost half his stack after his opponent had a better pair with {Q-}{5-}.

The next hand a player in the hijack raised before Tahvonen jammed for 20,000 from the small blind. His opponent called with ace-king which outmatched Tahvonen's ace-queen. The board ran all blanks and Tahvonen headed out of the tournament room.

After the hand, Tahvonen shared with PokerNews that he wasn't sure whether he would be playing more today. He noted that the Main Event was still early enough where he might hop in if he doesn't feel like waiting to play instead in tomorrow's Day 1b field.

Tahvonen Eliminates Rantamaki

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

Joni Rantamaki ran into a series of bad luck in two hands in less than an orbit and is now at the door.

In the first hand, Vojtech Skalak jammed for 14,500 before Rantamaki over-jammed for 24,000.

Skalak turned over {9-Spades}{9-Clubs} and was getting up out of his seat when he saw Rantamaki held {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}. Skalak sat back down after he nailed a set on the {9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{2-Spades} flop. The {7-Clubs} on the turn and the {6-Diamonds} on the river were of no help to Rantamaki and he doubled up his opponent.

A few hands later, Rantamaki open jammed for 12,000 with {K-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} from middle position and Tahvonen found a call from the big blind with {Q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}.

Tahvonen paired the {8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{A-Clubs} flop and eliminated Rantamaki after the {10-Spades} came on the turn and the {J-Diamonds} spiked the river.
