Engel Takes Over the Top Spot

Level 28 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

We have a new chip leader, and his name is Ari Engel.

In the last pot, Robert Scott limped in from the small blind, and Engel raised to 160,000. Scott called again, and the flop came {Q-Spades} {K-Hearts} {4-Clubs}. Scott led out into the pot with 150,000, and Engel flatted to see the {7-Hearts} on the turn. The action check-checked there, and the {6-Diamonds} completed the board. Scott tried again, firing 200,000 now. Engel called again, tabling {Q-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} for second pair.

It was good.

Scott mucked, slipping to 1.28 million. That gives Engel the top spot on the leaderboard, sitting pretty with 1.92 million now.

Super Tuan!

Level 28 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

From the button, Ari Engel opened to 120,000, and Kenny Nguyen three-bet shoved for 605,000. Engel called with the {K-Hearts} {9-Hearts}, and Nguyen was looking for double or nothing with his superior {A-Clubs} {10-Hearts}.

The {6-Hearts} {7-Spades} {A-Spades} flop drew a mini fist pump from Nguyen, now with a hammer lock on the double up. The turn {J-Diamonds} sealed the deal, and Engel was already cutting out his debt by the time the {2-Clubs} filled out the board. That moves Nguyen up to 1.255 million, knocking Engel down to 1.42 million.

Engel Can't Show; Nguyen is Too Good

Level 28 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante

Kenny Nguyen opened the pot to 135,000 from the button, and Ari Engel three-bet shoved from the big blind. Nguyen had 610,000 left in his stack, and he tanked for three or four minutes before releasing his cards.

"I showed you ace-queen earlier," Nguyen said. "You owe me one."

Engel didn't understand, so Nguyen asked a little more explicitly, "Show me?"

"I can't do that," Engel said deadpan. "You're too good."

Break Dance

Level 27 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

That's the end of another level, and the players have stepped out for a ten-minute break. We'll be back with hard chip counts from the table in just a sec.

Sean Knitter Eliminated in 5th Place ($23,358)

Level 27 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Sean Knitter - 5th place
Sean Knitter - 5th place

In the small blind, Robert Scott raised to 120,000, and Sean Knitter defended his big, calling to see a flop.

It came {J-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {10-Hearts}, and Scott led out with 200,000. Knitter shoved in for about 470,000 total, and Scott instantly called with the covering stack.

Showdown
Scott: {A-Spades} {6-Diamonds}
Knitter: {Q-Diamonds} {10-Spades}

Knitter's second pair was well ahead, and Scott asked the dealer for an ace. He'd get two of them. The turn and river came {A-Hearts} and {A-Clubs} respectively, getting Scott there in a big way. He makes trips to tally the knockout, sending Knitter to the payout desk in 5th place. That's good for $23,358.

More Shenanigans From Super Tuan

Level 27 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante

In a battle of the blinds, Ramana Epparla raised to 110,000 from the small, and Kenny Nguyen three-bet to 260,000 from the big. Epparla called, and the flop came out {4-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} {2-Hearts}. When Epparla checked, Nguyen shoved in for 287,000, coaxing a fold from his opponent.

"Super Tuan" flashed his {4-Hearts} {9-Clubs} as he dragged the pot, increasing to 832,000 with that win.
