Nguyen Defends His Blind

Level 24 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

in a battle of the blinds, Ramana Epparla opened to 46,000 from the small, and Kenny Nguyen came along from the big.

Heads-up, the dealer spread out {9-Spades} {2-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}, and Epparla continued out with another 46,000 chips. Nguyen proceeded to raise to 125,000, and that won him the pot right there, increasing his stack to 670,000.

Knitter On a Tear

Level 24 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Beginning the day on the shortest stack, Sean Knitter is advancing toward the top of the leaderboard here in the early stages of play.

We pick up another pot as Knitter called a 43,000-chip preflop raise from Huy Nguyen. Knitter was out of position, and he checked the {K-Spades} {4-Spades} {4-Diamonds} flop. Nguyen continued out with 55,000, and Knitter called to see the {7-Diamonds} on the turn. He check-called another bet there, 67,000 this time, and the {2-Spades} filled out the board. Knitter took control now, leading with an all-in shove. Nguyen surrendered, dropping down to 295,000.

Knitter is on the rise, working his stack up to 590,000.

Knitter Threads the Needle

Level 23 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

First in from middle position, Sean Knitter opened the pot to 40,000, and Ramana Epparla three-bet to 140,000 in position. When the action passed back around to Knitter, he shoved in for 182,000 total. Epparla called with the {K-Clubs} {Q-Spades}, and Knitter's {A-Hearts} {J-Clubs} was a small favorite to keep him alive.

The board ran out {10-Spades} {9-Clubs} {6-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {2-Hearts}, and that's safe and sound for Knitter. He's found the double to 406,000, while Epparla slides back a step to 1.72 million.

The First One to Scott

Level 23 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

In early position, Robert Scott came into the pot limping, and Ed Cotter raised to 40,000 from the cutoff seat. Scott called the remainder, and the two men took a {3-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {6-Hearts} flop. Scott checked, then called a continuation bet of 50,000 from Cotter.

Both men check-checked through the {4-Diamonds} turn and {8-Clubs} river.

Scott slapped his {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} down on the felt, and the hooks were good enough to drag that pot. Scott moves up to about 530,000 with that increase, knocking Cotter back around 560,000 in the process.
