Mike Devinsky Eliminated in 9th Place ($17,516)

Mike Devinsky - Eliminated in 9th place.
Mike Devinsky - Eliminated in 9th place.

Tuan Phan opened in early position, and the action folded to Mike Devinsky who three-bet shoved from the big blind. Phan snapped it off, and had Devinsky dominated.

Showdown
Phan: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}
Devinsky: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}

The {q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop pushed Phan even further into the lead, but it gave Devinsky chop outs. Unfortunately for the New Jersey native, he was drawing dead after the {10-Clubs} turned, and the {a-Spades} completed the board.

Devinsky will have to settle with $17,516, while Phan is now above 4 million chips.

Kaikko Doubles

Tuan Phan opened to 100,000 from early position, and the action folded to Kevin Kaikko who moved all in from the small blind. Anthony Zinno surrendered his big blind, and Phan immediately called.

Showdown
Phan: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}
Kaikko: {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}

The dealer burned one card, then dealt three face down, and was about to reveal the flop when one of the cameras fell down on top if the table. The window card - the {8-Hearts} - laid face up while the ordeal was taken care of, and then the rest of the flop was fanned {j-Clubs}{5-Clubs}. Phan needed running straight or flush cards, but was drawing dead after the {2-Spades} turned.

The {3-Clubs} completed the board, and Kaikko doubled to more than 400,000 chips.

Danny Rohde 10th Place ($14,099)

Tuan Phan kicked off the action for 65,000 and brought three players along with him: Danny Rohde, Manh Nguyen and Kevin Kaikko. The flop came {6-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {9-Diamonds}, the blinds checked and Phan bet 300,000. Rohde moved all in and the blinds got out of the way. Phan called pretty quickly and the hands were tabled.

Rohde: {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts}
Phan: {Q-Clubs} {10-Clubs}

The turn came {A-Clubs} - giving Phan the flush but giving Rohde some outs on the river for a full house. The river was a blank and Rohde was eliminated from the tournament.

Hao's a Hero

Hao Le is a hero.
Hao Le is a hero.

Danny Rohde opened to 50,000 from the cutoff seat, Hao Le called on the button, and Larry Riggs called out of the small blind. Manh Nguyen decided to raise the stakes, three-betting to 200,000 out of the big blind. Only Le called.

The flop fell {4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{k-Diamonds}, and Nguyen tanked before sliding out 240,000. After a minute of deliberation, Le called.

The turn was the {5-Clubs}, and again Nguyen fired. This time he slid out two towers of purple T10,000 chips, making it 400,000. Le thought for over two minutes, then abruptly stabbed two stacks of 100,000 chips into the pot.

The {3-Diamonds} completed the board, and Nguyen tanked for almost five minutes before moving all in for effectively 943,000. Le went deep into the tank, thinking the decision over for more than ten minutes. He sat motionlessly, then eventually put his hands on his head, ran his hands through his hair, and said, "Give me one more more."

True to his word, no more than 60 seconds later he made the call.

"Good call," Nguyen announced. "Ace-high."

Nguyen showed {a-Spades}{10-Hearts} for the bluff, and Le turned over {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for a pair of eights! The massive pot was pushed towards Le, who is now our commanding chip leader.

Phan Staying Active but First to Blink

Level 26 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Mike Devinsky got the best of Phan.
Mike Devinsky got the best of Phan.

Mike Devinsky opened for 60,000 in late position and Tuan Phan called from the button. The blinds folded and the flop came {8-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}.

Devinsky bet 65,000 and Phan announced raise. Phan first slid the 65,000 in the pot then took a few moments to consider his raise. He ultimately decided to add an additional 150,000 to the bet. Devinsky moved all in, which would cost Phan another 561,000.

Phan stood up from his chair and counted out a call. He counted what he had left behind and spent some time thinking about his action. Phan kicked his cards back to the dealer and sat back down in his chair.

Not Showing This Time

Level 26 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Denis Gnidash opened to 55,000 from middle position, and the action folded to Tuan Phan in the big blind. After a moment for thought, he raised to 355,000. Gnidash looked the other way, and was visibly frustrated - he only had about 500,000 behind.

After tanking for close to two minutes, Gnidash finally folded. "Show one?" he asked Phan.

"Nahhhhhhhhhhhh," Phan replied.
