Kloeckner New Chip Leader

Daniel Makowsky limped in, then Kyle Kloeckner raised to 80,000 on the button. The blinds folded, and the action was back on Makowsky. He asked how much Kloeckner had behind. Kloeckner counted it out -- about 730,000. He then called.

Both checked the {2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop. They also checked the {K-Diamonds} on the turn. The river brought the {7-Hearts}. Makowsky checked, Kloeckner bet 125,000, and Makowsky called.

Kloeckner showed {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{6-Spades} for the nut flush, and took the pot. Kloeckner is the current chip leader with 948,000.

Kings Good for Makowsky

After a hand in which Layne Flack raised to 70,000, taking the blinds, on the next one Jacobo Fernandez limped, Kyle Kloeckner completed from the small blind, and Daniel Makowsky checked from the big blind.

The flop came {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{K-Hearts}. All checked. The turn was the {K-Spades}. Makowsky bet 60,000, and only Kloeckner called. The river was the {6-Spades}, and both checked. Daniel Makowsky showed a king for trips, and Kloeckner mucked.

Three Small Ones

1. Kyle Kloeckner raised to 60,000, taking the blinds.

2. Ted Forrest raised to 55,000, taking the blinds.

3. Forrest limped, and Daniel Makowsky checked from the big blind. The flop came {Q-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{J-Hearts}. Makowsky checked, Forrest bet 50,000, and Makowsky folded.

Guzzardi Gets Some Back from Flack

It folded around to chip leader Layne Flack on the button who raised to 70,000. Michael Guzzardi raised with his remaining chips from the small blind, and Ted Forrest folded.

Guzzardi {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Flack {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}

The board came {J-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. Guzzardi made Broadway and doubled back up over 200,000.

Flack Picks on Guzzardi

It folded around to Layne Flack who completed from the small blind, and Michael Guzzardi checked in the big blind.

The flop came {Q-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and both checked. The turn was the {5-Diamonds}. Flack checked, Guzzardi bet 20,000, and Flack called.

The river was the {Q-Spades}. Flack checked, Guzzardi bet 30,000, Flack check-raised to 100,000, and Guzzardi called.

Flack showed A-Q-x-x for queens full of aces, and Guzzardi was back down to 102,000.

Focused Flack

Layne Flack is a different man to yesterday. He's not jumping up and down, joking with all around him. He's sitting quite still and has immense focus in his eyes. Quietly, quietly he's worked his way up to the chip lead.

He's in the zone and if he wasn't one to watch already, he certainly is now.

Fernandez Takes Small One

Layne Flack and Ted Forrest -- ten WSOP bracelets between them -- both limped in. (How would you like to be in the blinds in that spot?) Kyle Kloeckner folded his small blind, and Jacobo Fernandez checked his option in the big blind.

The flop came {7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}, and Fernandez bet the pot -- 70,000. Forrest and Flack folded, and Fernandez took it down.

Another Uncomfortable Hand for Guzzardi

Michael Guzzardi
Michael Guzzardi
After a hand in which Dario Alioto raised pot from the button and took the blinds, on the next one Michael Guzzardi raised to 60,000, and Dario Alioto called.

The flop came a humble-looking {4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Spades}. Both checked. The turn was the {J-Hearts}, and Guzzardi bet 80,000. Alioto took a moment, then began to marshal his stacks together for a reraise. Guzzardi watched him carefully, not looking too thrilled that Alioto was showing such interest.

Alioto finally raised to 255,000, meaning essentially Guzzardi would have to commit most of his remaining stack to call.

Guzzardi took his time contemplating that raggedy-looking board. Finally he laid it down. He's now down to 202,000.
