Scary Raise Gives Flack Chip Lead

Layne Flack raised 75,000. It folded to Kyle Kloeckner in the small blind. He thought a bit, then dropped out 245,000 in front of him. Jacobo Fernandez folded in the big blind, and Flack didn't hesitate at all before reraising pot to 759,000 total (leaving himself just 123,000 behind).

Kloeckner had to think about this one. Calling would mean committing just about his entire stack. After a minute or so, he laid it down.

That hand knocked Kloeckner down to 590,000. Flack has reassumed the chip lead with nearly 1.2 million.

Seeing Flops, Gathering Chips

Jacobo Fernandez limped again (third hand running), this time from UTG+1. All folded to Kyle Kloeckner who checked his option in the big blind.

The flop came {6-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. Both checked. The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and both checked again. The river was the {K-Diamonds}. Kloeckner checked, Fernandez bet the pot, and Kloeckner let it go.

Two in a Row for Fernandez

Jacobo Fernandez and Dario Alioto limped, Tim West completed from the small blind, and Daniel Makowsky checked in the big blind.

The flop came {9-Hearts}{6-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. It was checked to Fernandez who bet 96,000, and everyone folded.

Jacobo Bets His Draw

Daniel Makowsky and Jacobo Fernandez both limped, Dario Alioto folded from the small blind, and Tim West checked his option.

The flop came {2-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Clubs}. West and Makowsky checked, and Fernandez bet 60,000, winning the pot, showing the {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs} as he dragged the chips.

Price of Poker Going Up

With the blinds at 12,000/24,000, opening preflop raises can range from 48,000 to 84,000.

The level began very much like the last one ended: Kyle Kloeckner raised to 72,000 and claimed the blinds.

Alioto Wins Hand, Chip Lead from Kloeckner

Dario Alioto
Dario Alioto
Dario Alioto raised to 55,000, and Kyle Kloeckner made the call. The flop came {K-Spades}{5-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}. Alioto quickly checked, then Kloeckner bet 100,000. Alioto thought a moment, then called.

The turn came the {J-Diamonds}, and both checked.

The river was a potential action card -- the {A-Diamonds}. Alioto pushed out 140,000, and Kloeckner let it go. Alioto reclaimed the chip lead on that one.
