Scott Lake Eliminated in 19th Place ($5,607)

Scott Lake - 19th place
Scott Lake - 19th place

Scott Lake: (XXX / {2-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}
Michael Foti: {a-Spades}{4-Hearts}{j-Clubs} / {a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{k-Hearts}

Michael Foti was the overall aggressor, completing on third street, betting out on fourth and then raising on fifth to a bet from Scott Lake. They both checked sixth street, and Foti bet again on seventh. Lake called, but mucked when Foti turned over an ace for top pair.

Lake was really not happy about this - he seemed absolutely certain that Foti had picked up the ace on seventh street. "You just couldn't f***ing help yourself, could you?" he fumed.

Down to just 8,000, he got it in almost immediately and was up against David Levi. Lake made two pair, fives and deuces - but Levi made two pair, queens and deuces, and Lake headed for the door, still fuming at Foti.

Mickey Seagle Eliminated in 20th Place ($5,607)

Jonathan Bascom: (XX) / {6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{10-Spades} / (X)
Mickey Seagle: (XX) / {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{8-Spades} / (X)
Michael Foti: (XX) / {2-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{9-Hearts} / (X)

Mickey Seagle bet out on fifth street when we caught up with the action and Jonathan Bascom and Michael Foti both called. Seagle bet all in on sixth street and again both his opponents made the call.

Once Bascom and Foti had checked seventh street, it became apparent that Seagle's pair of kings was no good - Bascom turned over {10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} for two pair and Foti revealed a low, meaning that the two of them chopped the pot. Seagle had been KO'd and headed for the payout desk, purple payout slip in hand.

After that, Bascom was up to 195,000 and Foti was up to 215,000.

Burlot Nearly Lose the Lot

With Regis Burlot moving all in on an earlier street, Odette Tremblay and Karina Jett made it an all female affair heading further into the hand. However, after check-calling two bets, Tremblay gave it up on seventh.

Jett: {X}{X}{X}/{K-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades}
Tremblay: {X}{X}{X}/{J-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Burlot: {X}{X}{X}/{5-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Spades}{A-Diamonds}

As Jett turned over {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for the flush and eight low, Burlot flipped {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}{6-Clubs} for just a pair of kings, but a seven low. However, the dealer misread the hands and slid Burlot's cards face down towards the muck. "No, wait, I have a low!" yelped Burlot as if someone had pricked his bottom with a drawing pin.

Although one or two cards may have touched the muck, they were just about retrievable, and after a double check of the scribble on my notepad, Burlot was awarded half the pot, but he was just a few literal inches away from making an unjustifiable journey towards the rail.

Richburg Poor, But Improving

James Richburg was all in by the time we arrived, and up against Allen Bari. Bari made two pair, threes and sixes, and Richburg made a low meaning that they chopped it up and Richburg survived to play another hand.

The next hand though he got it all in again against Bari - and once again they chopped. Richburg remained on 40,000.

The hand after that though, and Richburg managed to increase his stack significantly, to 60,000. With his cards reading {7-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Maxwell Troy's cards reading {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts} on fifth street, Troy gave it up and Richburg took the pot without a showdown.

Thomas Hunt Eliminated in 21st Place ($5,607)

We didn't see the hand, but we saw Thomas Hunt and his Hawaiian shirt get up from the table, his chips all gone, and stand in the aisle looking a bit lost. Eventually a passing TD took pity on him and gave him a payout slip. He duly trudged off to collect his money.

Bonnie Leinhos Eliminated in 22nd Place ($5,607)

David Warga
David Warga

These players must have put Red Bull on their Weetabix this morning instead of milk, as within just a few hands, we had a four-way pot on the near table with two all-ins!

Both Bonnie Leinhos and Allen Bari moved all in on third street (the latter for 36,000), whilst Kevin MacPhee and David Warga proceeded to battle it out over the side pot.

Leinhos: {5-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}/{8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Bari: {3-Spades}{10-Spades}{9-Spades}/{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
MacPhee: {mucked on seventh}/{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Warga: {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{4-Hearts}/{7-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}

MacPhee check-called bets on all further streets, but folded in frustration on seventh. Warga announced aces and an eight low, whilst Bari flipped two pair to take the high. Leinhos, meanwhile, could but look at her cards in the hope they changed, but they didn't, and she was gone in 22nd.

Bari - 80,000
MacPhee - 75,000
Warga - 285,000

Panic Over

Breathe a sigh of relief, Christopher George fans - your boy is here. He was much cooler - in every sense of the word - upon his arrival than Chris Tryba was, too.

Robert Campbell Eliminated in 23rd Place ($5,607)

Robert Campbell: (XXX) / {a-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{k-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Jason Estock: {a-Clubs}{2-Spades}{3-Clubs} / {4-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Spades}{6-Spades}

Robert Campbell bet out on fourth street and Jason Estock called. On every subsequent street it was Estock who was the aggressor and Campbell just check-called.

At the end of it, Estock revealed the wheel for a low - and went one better for the high, with a straight to six. Campbell mucked, and was down to just 30,000.

A few hands later and Campbell got the last of his chips in with a low draw which never came in. Jonathan Bascom's two pair, aces and deuces, scooped the pot, and Campbell hit the rail.

Tryba & Tribulation

"This is me. Oh my God. Oh my God."

Such was Chris Tryba's greeting to the table as he arrived a little after the start of the event.

"The only time in two weeks there's any traffic," he continued to pant, "Oh my God I'm gonna die."

Nothing to worry about though - he'd barely missed a hand. And indeed, he wasn't even the last one in. If anyone sees Christopher George, pleas let him know he's being anted off as we type.

And They're Off!

P;lay has begun, and it's not going to stop until we have a winner. Except for scheduled breaks, dinner, etc. But at the end of it all we're going to have a winner.

Good luck all!
