Karina Jett was the bettor on fourth street when we joined the action; thereafter it was David Levi who bet on every street. Come seventh street Levi tabled a six low and Jett showed two pair, sixes and tens. They chopped it up, and play continued.
Kevin MacPhee completed and then called a raise from Jason Estock to see a fourth card. On fourth, Estock checked, MacPhee bet, Estock raised all in and MacPhee called.
Estock made a pair of kings on sixth street (MacPhee swore under his breath) but when MacPhee turned over his last down card he'd made two pair, tens and fours. Estock's last card couldn't help him and he hit the rail just as the players went on break.
Blair Rodman: {mucked}/
Christopher Tryba: /
Karina Jett: /
Rodman's last 5,000 went all in on fourth street, but his face soon turned sour as Karina Jett raised and Tryba called. Tryba check-called right up to seventh where it was checked back, only for the pot to be chopped up. Rodman, meanwhile, who's fate seemed to get more and more bleak as each card was dealt, simply mucked his hand and headed towards the cahsier.
Michael Foti: / / (X)
Jonathan Bascom: (XX) / / (X)
We caught up with Michael Foti betting out on fifth street and Jonathan Bascom calling. Foti bet out again on sixth, and Bascom called that too.
Foti bet all in for his last 5,000 on seventh street and Bascom called again - but mucked when Foti revealed two pair and a seven low to scoop the pot.
Foti doubled to 160,000. Bascom dropped to 180,000, and indeed he took another chunky hit the next hand courtesy of Topias Wahlbeck. Bascom is now sitting on just 60,000.
Kevin MacPhee got his short stack in on third street with a brief raising war against Blair Rodman, each of them showing an ace.
By the time all the cards had been dealt, MacPhee had made a flush, his hand reading (X). Rodman couldn't beat it and MacPhee doubled to 80,000, dropping Rodman to 95,000 in the process.
This means that MacPhee's Poker Kitchen fruit platter, which he has left temptingly on the bloggers' desk, remains safe for now.
We haven't even made our final yet, so railers are a little thin on the ground so far. A couple Israeli gents are sitting near David Levi's table sweating their boy, but most of the railers across the way seem to be more interested in the six-max hold'em event over at the next three tables than in our stud-eight event.
Nevertheless the award for Railers Of The Day goes to Kristy Gazes and Jim Geary, both of whom played this event back on Day 1. They just now appeared at the rail in support of Karina Jett.
"Go KJ! Go KJ!" they chanted. They had a little Ricki Lake dance to go with it and everything.
