Derric Haynie Eliminated in 3rd Place ($161,117)

Derric Haynie - 3rd Place
Derric Haynie - 3rd Place

Steven Kelly opened to 165,000 from the button and Derric Haynie moved all in for just about 1,000,000 from the big blind. Kelly thought for a second before making the call.

Showdown
Kelly: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Haynie: {q-Spades}{j-Spades}

There were shouts for a queen or a jack, but the {9-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} flop missed Haynie. The {a-Clubs} on the turn didn't give him a winner either, but it did give him three extra outs to counterfeit Kelly.

The dealer wrapped the table and delivered paint on the river, but the {k-Clubs} did not improve Haynie and he was eliminated in 3rd place.

We are now heads up in Event #39 for the bracelet and $381,922.

Haynie in a Shoving Mood

On the second hand back from the break, Derric Haynie open-raised all in from the small blind, and chip leader Steven Kelly conceded his big blind.

Haynie is still hovering right around 1 million, well behind Kelly with 3.6 million. Jeffrey King has about 1.7 million.

Haynie Gets Some Back

Jeffrey King limped in from the small blind and Derric Haynie checked his option in the big blind.

The dealer flopped {q-Hearts}{6-Spades}{3-Hearts} and King led for 50,000. Haynie called.

The turn brought the {2-Hearts} and King checked to Haynie who bet 110,000. King called.

King checked again after the {9-Diamonds} rivered and Haynie double-fisted 260,000 into the middle. King folded and Haynie chipped up to 940,000.

Kelly Keeps It Up

Derric Haynie folded on the button, then Steven Kelly raised to 100,000 from the small blind. Jeffrey King checked from the BB, and the flop came {9-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{A-Clubs}. Both players checked.

The turn was the {Q-Clubs}. Kelly checked, then King promptly pushed out 120,000. Kelly then check-raised to 240,000, and King decided against pursuing the matter.

Kelly is up over 3 million now. King is second with about 2.2 million, and Derric Haynie has 940,000.

Huge Pot for Kelly

Steven Kelly raised to 100,000 with the button and Derric Haynie defended from the big blind.

Haynie check-called bets on both the {k-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades} flop and the {4-Hearts} turn.

After the {q-Spades} rivered, he checked a third time and Kelly put out a big bet; 675,000. Haynie cut out enough chips to call and paused for a moment before sliding them in.

Kelly opened {k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for two pair and Haynie mucked his hand.

Kelly is our new chip leader with 2,900,000 chips and Haynie is our short stack now with just 830,000.

Dustin Dirksen Eliminated in 4th Place ($112,214)

Dustin Dirksen - 4th place
Dustin Dirksen - 4th place

It folded to Derric Haynie in the small blind who open-shoved, then Dustin Dirksen called with his remaining 700,000 or so.

Haynie {Q-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Dirksen {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

"Queen! Queen! Queen!" shouted Haynie's cheering section. The dealer burned one and complied with the request, delivering a {10-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{6-Clubs} flop. Haynie's supporters continued to petition for more queens, though were likely plenty satisfied with the {7-Diamonds} turn and {K-Hearts} river.

Dirksen was less satisfied, obviously, although a six-figure payday for fourth place will help with that, one imagines. Haynie chips up over 2 million.
