Reagan Leman Eliminated in 5th Place ($78,361)

Reagan Leman - 5th Place
Reagan Leman - 5th Place

Action folded to Reagan Leman who open-shoved for just under 600,000 on the button. Jeffrey King made the call in the small blind and Derric Haynie surrendered his big.

Showdown
Leman: {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}
King: {a-Hearts}{q-Clubs}

The {q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop all but ended it for Leman, and the {8-Spades} on the turn did the deed. The {2-Hearts} on the river was but a formality and Leman hit the rail in 5th place.

King continues to steamroll forward, and after two straight knockouts is up over 3,000,000 chips.

We're now down to five players. Here's how that last orbit went...

1. Jeffrey King got a walk in the big blind.

2. Steven Kelly raised to 65,000 from the cutoff, and won the blinds and antes.

3. Jeffrey King opened with a raise to 80,000 from the button, winning the blinds and antes.

4. Steven Kelly got a walk in the big blind.

5. Jeffrey King opened from under the gun with a raise to 80,000. and Derric Haynie reraised to 215,000. It folded back around and King let it go.

Brett Shaffer Eliminated in 6th Place ($56,446)

Brett Shaffer - 6th Place
Brett Shaffer - 6th Place

Brett Shaffer opened to 80,000 from the cutoff and Jeffrey King defended his big blind.

The flop fell {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{j-Spades} and King checked to Shaffer who continued for 150,000. King grabbed a giant stack of green T25,000 chips and pushed them forward effectively putting Shaffer all in.

"Alright," Shaffer said. "I'm all in."

King put out some extra chips just in case, and the hands were turned over:

Showdown
Shaffer: {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
King: {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}

Both players were drawing, but Shaffer was ahead at the moment with ace-high. The {k-Hearts} on the turn was a blank, but the {q-Diamonds} on the river gave King a winning pair of queens.

Shaffer stared at the board for a bit, shellshocked at what had just happened. He eventually collected himself, shook some hands and headed to the cage.

With that knockout, King is now our clear chip leader with 2,740,000 chips.

Kelly led for 50,000, Leman moved all in for just over 400,000 and Kelly released.

Leman is climbing back into contention and now sits with 510,000 chips.

Paul Varano - 7th place
Paul Varano - 7th place

In the first hand back from the break, Paul Varano opened with an all-in raise of his last 260,000 from middle position, and it folded around to Steven Kelly who called from the small blind. Reagan Leman folded from the BB. Cards on their backs...

Kelly {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}
Varano {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}

Unfortunate timing for Varano. The board came {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Spades}{Q-Clubs}, and we are now down to six players. Kelly chips up to 910,000.

Shaffer Doubles, Varano in Trouble

Brett Shaffer
Brett Shaffer

Action folded to Paul Varano who opened to 50,000 from the cutoff. Derric Haynie folded his button, Dustin Dirksen surrendered his small blind and Brett Shaffer moved all in from the big.

Varano asked for a count and after the dealer cut it down, she told him it was 444,000 more. Varano thought for a second then called.

Showdown
Varano: {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}
Shaffer: {k-Hearts}{j-Spades}

Shaffer grabbed his bag and stood up out of his chair as the dealer flopped {9-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. He paused, noticing he was now in the lead. He began to sit back down as the {4-Clubs} turned and by the time the {9-Clubs} had rivered he was back in his seat pulling in his newfound chips.

Shaffer more than doubled to 895,000 chips and Varano is in trouble with just 251,000.
