Nut Straight for Jaffee

Jared Jaffee
Jared Jaffee

No-Limit Hold'em

Matt Vengrin was under the gun and raised to 14,000. Jared Jaffee called from the big blind. The two players were heads up to the flop and it came down {10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. Both players proceeded to check.

The turn card added the {7-Hearts} to the board. Jaffee tapped the table and action moved over to Vengrin. He fired 9,000. Jaffee check-raised to 29,000. Vengrin made the call.

The river card produced the {4-Diamonds} and Jaffee fired 44,000. Vengrin called the bet, but mucked his two cards when Jaffee tabled the {J-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for the nut straight.

Seiver Doubles Through Jaffee

Seiver with the double
Seiver with the double

No-Limit Hold'em

Scott Seiver raised to 12,500 from the cutoff seat. Jared Jaffee called on the button and Sigurd Eskeland called from the big blind. The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and action checked around.

The turn brought the {7-Hearts} to the board and Eskeland checked first. Seiver fired 28,000 before Jaffee raised to 90,000. Eskeland folded and then Seiver went all in for 138,000. Jaffee called.

Seiver held the {Q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} for top pair and a gutshot while Jaffee had the {A-Hearts}{3-Hearts} for bottom pair and a flush draw. The river completed the board with the {9-Diamonds} and missed Jaffee, allowing Seiver to double up.

Seiver's back up to 317,000 while Jaffee dropped to 290,000.

Alexander Kravchenko Eliminated in 11th Place ($14,232)

Alexander Kravchenko - 11th Place
Alexander Kravchenko - 11th Place

No-Limit Hold'em

Alexander Kravchenko was nursing a small stack when he was facing a raise to 16,000 made by Steve Sung under the gun. Kravchenko, who was in the big blind, shoved for 86,000 and was called by Sung.

Kravchenko: {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}
Sung: {q-Spades}{j-Spades}

Kravchenko was ahead preflop but he wasn't to stay ahead for long. The flop came {3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}, pairing Sung's hand and leaving Kravchenko in need of improvement. The turn gave Kravchenko some outs, coming {7-Spades} but the river added insult to injury as the {j-Clubs} fell.

With Kravchenko's chips joining his own, Sung isnow up to 327,000.

That's a Heck of an Ante

There was some unrest at the tables after players were informed that the structure for No-Limit Hold'em was 3,000/6,000 with a 3,000 ante. It was clearly a typo in the structure sheet as level 22 has antes at 2,000. Antes for this level should be 1,500, which is how they will play from here on out.

There was some debate over what to do with players at Table 336 who have already played five hands with the ridiculously high ante. Tournament organizers decided against making Table 331 do the same thing as well as against giving players at Table 336 a refund on the antes they paid.

Wice Doubles Through Kravchenko

No-Limit Hold'em

Alexander Kravchenko kicked the hand off by raising to 20,000 from under the gun. Alexander Wice was in the big blind when action folded to him, and he went all in for 90,000 total with Kravchenko making the call.

Wice: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Kravchenko: {a-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

Wice likely hated the flop which paied Kravchenko, coming {2-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. However, all was made better (at least for Wice) with the {k-Spades} on the turn. The {k-Diamonds} came on the river for good measure.

After the hand was concluded, Wice found himself with 190,000 chips while Kravchenko is down to 95,000.

Brunson Up to 300k

Stud

Todd Brunson: {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} / {2-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-}{9-Clubs} / {2-Spades}
Stephen Su: (X)(X) / {5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} / (X)

Todd Brunson recently found himself with 300,000 chips after beating Stephen Su in a big stud pot. We caught up with action on fifth street where Brunson called a bet from Su, something he would do again on sixth street. Su checked the river before calling a bet from Brunson.

Brunson showed a full house and Su mucked, losing some of the chips he just won from busting Jesse Martin.
