Matt Vengrin - 9th Place

No-Limit Hold'em

Three players saw the flop come {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}. Those three were Jared Jaffee, Steve Sung and Matt Vengrin. Jaffee was up first and checked. Sung fired 25,000 and Vengrin made the call. Jaffee got out of the way.

The turn brought the {K-Spades} and Sung fired 62,000. Vengrin raised all in for 226,000 total. Sung went into the tank for quite some time before making the call.

Vengrin tabled the {A-Spades}{3-Clubs}, but was out-kicked by Sung's {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}.

The river landed with the {A-Diamonds} and Sung's kicked held up, giving him the best hand and the elimination of Vengrin in ninth place. Vengrin took home over $18,000 for his finish.

Stud
Todd Brunson: {5-Spades}{9-Clubs}(X) / {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{3-Clubs}
Nikolai Yakovenko: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} / {q-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}

Steve Sung was the first to act in what would be Todd Brunson's last hand when he completed with both Brunson and Nikolai Yakovenko calling.

Brunson bet all in on fourth street with Sung raising and Yakovenko calling. Sung also check-called a bet from Yakovenko on fifth street and sixth street, but folded to a bet on the river.

Eskeland Doubles Through Vengrin

Omaha-8

Matthew Vengrin raised from the button and called a three-bet from Sigurd Eskeland in the small blind. The flop was {2-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Eskeland bet with Vengrin raising and Eskeland re-raising all in. Vengrin made the call and it was time to see some cards.

Eskeland: {a-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}
Vengrin: {2-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{a-Clubs}

Eskeland's aces were ahead and he was drawing to a lower low. The turn was the the {8-Spades}, giving Vengrin two pair and Eskeland a better low, but the {q-Diamonds} on the river gave Eskeland a higher two pair to go with his low, leading him to scoop the pot.

Eskeland now has 250,000 chips while Vengrin is at 575,000.

Aces Hold in Limit Hold'em?

Hold'em

Stephen Su raised from under the gun and called a raise from Matthew Vengrin who popped it up again from the small blind.

Vengrin led out with a bet on a flop of {k-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and took his turn calling a raise from Su. The turn was the {6-Spades} and Su check-called a bet from Vengrin.

The river brought the {9-Diamonds} and both players checked. Vengrin tabled {a-Clubs}{a-Spades} and Su mucked, which prompted someone on the rail to say, "Woah, aces hold in limit hold'em?"
