Chips and Short One

Blair Hinkle was moved two to the left of Tyler Patterson and quickly the two clashed.

Hinkle opened to 12,000 from the cut-off and was three-bet to 35,000 by Patterson from the small blind. He responded by four-bet shoving, and that forced a fold from Patterson.

Lester and Haxton

Jason Lester started the day with plenty of chips to scare and now sits behind one of the larger stacks in the room late into the day. Lester is over on Isaac Haxton's table, with Haxton also amassing a deadly chip stack. These two players recently rumbled preflop, with the chips going to Haxton. In the hand in question, Lester opened to 12,000 from the button. Haxton then throught hard before three-betting to 45,000. Lester thought for even longer, tanking for almost two minutes before giving up.

Korik: Brave Call, Huge Double, New Chip Leader

Anthony Ruberto and Zachary Korik played out a 500k pot that saw the latter rise to the top of the counts.

The hand started with a cut-off raise from Ruberto and a small blind three-bet to 28,500 from Korik. The flop came down {3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{7-Spades} and Korik continued for 35,500. Call.

The turn fell {a-Spades} and Korik slowed to a check. Ruberto asked for a count of how much Korik had remaining (235.5k) and then moved all in.

Korik took his time, muttering through the hand under his breath, and then called with {a-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Ruberto was semi-bluffing with {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and failed to hit his straight on the {3-Spades} river.

Korik's table mates were amazed at the call, and he sat their soaking up all the plaudits.

Hinkle Hitting Them Away

Blair Hinkle started the day as one of the shorter stacks in the room, but that didn't stop the World Series of Poker gold bracelet holder from managing to run his stack up to sit in contention with just 60 or so players remaining.

Recently we watched Hinkle open it up to 15,000 from middle position. The action was then sent to the player in the small blind who shoved all-in. It wasn't too much more to Hinkle as he immediately toppled in the call.

Hinkle: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Opponent: {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The {6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{k-Clubs} flop made Hinkle give out a slight chuckle. The {6-Spades} turn changed nothing, but the {a-Clubs} river was what Hinkle was looking for.

"Knew it was too good to be true," the eliminated player mumbled as he exited the tournament area.

They all Count For Tran

Theo Tran
Theo Tran

Theo Tran is having an up and down day. He rocketed to nearly 400k a few levels ago, and then started to slide quite severely. He then got his stack going in the right direction but must have lost chips before the dinner break.

He just called a short stack's shove holding {a-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} whilst in the small blind. His opponent opened {10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and was drawing dead by the turn of an {a-Spades}{9-Spades}{k-Spades}{2-Clubs}{8-Spades} board.

Nic Takes Hit

Nicolas Cardyn has taken a hit to his stack, with his loss coming courtesy of a hand that played out like this. Cardyn started it all with an open to 12,000 from early position. Marcus Gurley called on his left and then the player in the small blind shoved all-in. Cardyn thought for a few moments and re-shoved, having his opponent covered by a fair whack of chips. Gurlye got out of the way and the two players turned their hands over.

Cardyn: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

The {9-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop was a good one for Cardyn, but the {a-Spades} on the turn was not quite as welcomed. The {10-Diamonds} on the river was no help to Cardyn as he took a hit to his stack.
