Katz Drags a Pair

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Cary Katz raised to 27,000 from the hijack, and Davidi Kitai, in the cutoff, was the only caller.

The flop came {3-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}, and Katz continuation-bet 25,000. Kitai called. The turn came {j-Clubs}, completing the three-flush, and Katz checked. Kitai bet 44,000, and Katz did the calling this time. The river brought a {k-Diamonds}, and Katz retook the lead with a bet of 125,000. Kitai folded.

The next hand, Katz opened for another raise, this time to 24,000. Again, it was the cutoff playing, this time Dario Minieri. However, instead of a mere call, Minieri popped it to 70,000. Katz thought for a couple of minutes before announcing "pot." Minieri folded immediately.

Jesse Martin raised to 28,000 from early position, Cary Katz three-bet the pot (102,000) on his direct left, and the action folded back to Martin, who moved all in. Katz snap-called for 148,000 more.

Martin: {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}
Katz: {j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}

Both players flopped a set when the dealer fanned {8-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, and Martin couldn't find quad eights a second time as the board came {a-Diamonds}, {2-Spades} respectively.

Katz doubled to 518,000 chips, while Martin plummeted to 115,000.

Jesse Martin raised to 27,000 from middle position, Dimitar Danchev defended his big blind, and the dealer fanned {2-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. Both players checked.

The turn was the {9-Spades}, Danchev led out for 22,000, and Martin made the call.

The {8-Diamonds} completed the board, Danchev checked, and Martin slid out 52,000. Danchev tanked for nearly two minutes, then called. Martin showed {8-Hearts}{8-Spades} for quad eights, winning the pot.

'ElkY' Plays it Small with Kings

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier opened to 25,000 from early position and found two callers in Cary Katz (small blind) and Davidi Kitai (big blind).

Everyone checked the {7-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} flop. The board paired the turn with the {10-Spades}, and Katz checked again. Kitai was ready to get chips in the pot, and he fired 38,000. Grospellier made the call, while Katz folded. The river came {7-Diamonds} putting two pair on board. Kitai checked, and Grospellier checked behind him. Kitai turned over {k-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for a missed flush draw, so the pot went to Elky and his {k-}{k-Diamonds}.

"That's Nuts"

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Dario Minieri raised to 20,000 in early position, Vincent Bartello called on the button, and both blinds released. The flop fell {k-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}, and Minieri tossed out a continuation-bet of 20,000. Bartello flashed {10-}{10-} and folded.

"That's nuts," Minieri said with a huge grin on his face.

"There's no telling what he had," Bartello told his neighbors.

Kitai Gets Value with AA

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Cary Katz opened for 20,000 from middle position, and Davidi Kitai made the call from his left. Chris Johnson came along for a discount in the big blind.

The flop came {4-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}, and Johnson and Katz checked to Kitai, who bet 27,000. Only Johnson called. The turn was the {5-Diamonds}. Johnson check-called again, this time for 48,000. The river was {10-Diamonds}, and Johnson checked once more. Kitai bet 88,000, and Johnson called. Kitai showed {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} to take the pot.
