The WSOP Summer Online Circuit recently kicked off to run alongside the bracelet events. The third tournament of the series was the $525 buy-in Event #3: $150,000 GTD NLH Monster Stack, which attracted 397 players who rebought 144 times. The 541-entry field resulted in a $270,500 prize pool that was reserved for the top 80 finishers.

Among those to cash were Chris "Robotbob47" Moorman (72nd - $974), Aaron "FrankDux" Massey (63rd - $974), Katie "katelin" Lindsay (43rd - $1,217), Orson "borgatcha" Young (27th - $1,704), Ethan "Rampunts" Yau (19th - $1,704), Landon "ActionDealer" Tice (13th - $2,813), Darren "darrenelias" Elias (8th - $6,357), and Kevin "DegenLen" Sullivan (3rd - $25,238).

In the end, Tom ".BEAST." Cannuli bested "yogotttmepro" in heads-up play to win the title for $46,256 and his first gold ring, which will go nicely with the bracelet he won at the 2017 WSOP Event #61: $3,333 WSOP.com Online NLH High Roller for $322,815. Cannuli also finished sixth in the 2015 WSOP Main Event for $1.4 million.

Ross "BlueTang" Gottlieb Looking For a Taste of WSOP Gold

Level 8 : 120/240, 30 ante
Ross Gottlieb
Ross Gottlieb

Columbus, Ohio's Ross "BlueTang" Gottlieb recorded four cashes in last year's WSOP.com Online Bracelet Series, but it was one huge run that defined his series, and brought him agonizingly close to earning his first career WSOP Gold Bracelet.

In Event #8: $500 NLH Freezeout, Gottlieb found himself at a final table of absolute crushers, including Robert "bustinballs" Kuhn, Scott "miamicane" Davies, and Randy "StayAlive" Ohel among others. Gottlieb was on the shorter side of the counts at the start of the final table, but took the majority of Kuhn's chips with queens to take a commanding lead with five players remaining.

When heads-up play commenced, Gottlieb was back in a 2:1 deficit against Alan "GladiusIII" Goehring, but looked poised to take back command of the battle when the final hand of the tournament took place. Gottlieb, holding king-nine, flopped a king-high straight, while Goehring held ace-three of clubs for a higher straight draw and a flush draw. Gottlieb went from retaking the chip lead to out in one card when the turn was a club, and Gottlieb was forced to settle for $73,942 for a second-place run.

Gottlieb, who describes himself on his Twitter bio as a "full time veterinarian, part time button clicker", is back in action for this year's series, and looks to have a full schedule of events to play in his quest to finish one spot higher in an event this year, and lay claim to a WSOP Gold Bracelet.

WSOP History: Looking Back at the November (and October) Nines

Level 7 : 100/200, 25 ante
2013 WSOP November Nine
2013 WSOP November Nine

No stage in poker stood as a bigger goal for a tournament player than the final table of the WSOP Main Event. For years, that meant going to sleep knowing you had the chance of a lifetime, to go down in poker history in the next few days as the cameras captured your every bet, raise and fold.

All of that changed in 2008.

The year after Jerry Yang's Main Event victory was broadcast to all on ESPN's standard tape delay, organizers made a decision to try to increase the excitement and anticipation around the final table: after the final nine was reached, play would be paused. At that point, everyone left would go home with 9th-place money and the players would reconvene a few months later to play out the final table on a short tape delay.

That lasted until 2016, and this is the history of the November (and October) Nines.

Level 7 : 100/200, 25 ante

The turn was the {7-Hearts}. Depaulo bet 4,400 and was called again.

The river came the {9-Clubs}. Depaulo jammed for 15,719 and got called again.

Buckley Out Kicked by Sutherland

Level 7 : 100/200, 25 ante

A series of preflop raises saw Steven "Buckleya9" Buckley five-bet jam for 9,355 on the button and David "Gutshotu" Sutherland from middle position.

Steven "Buckleya9" Buckley: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}
David "Gutshotu" Sutherland: {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

Buckley was dominated and the {2-Clubs}{a-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} flop didn't change a thing.

The {4-Diamonds} turn did bring possible chop outs but the {8-Spades} completed the board on the river and eliminated Buckley from the tournament.
