Old-School Matusow "Blowup" Sends Him Packing

Level 18 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

On the streamed outer feature table, Mike Matusow with {a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} found himself out of position in a heads-up pot against Mikolaj Zawadzki with {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs} on a board of {5-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}. Matusow checked on the turn and Zawadzki checked back.

The river brought the {k-Clubs} to give Zawadzki a flush and Matusow led out for 70,000 with his ace-high. Zawadzki raised to 175,000. Matusow decided to bluff with a three-bet jam for 390,000 total, sending Zawadzki into the tank.

"All in? All in? Matusow with a 2022 blowup maybe?!" Lon McEachern exclaimed from the commentator booth. "Old-school Mike!"

"This is an interesting line by Matusow," added Jamie Kerstetter.

Zawadzki stayed in the tank despite getting great odds to call. He eventually called and Matusow tossed in his cards after seeing the bad news.

"I went for it. I didn't think you had a flush. Nice hand," Matusow said quietly.
