Valentin Detoc was all in preflop holding and well out in front of McLean Karr's . Karr would not get a lucky ten this time as the board ran out and Detoc doubled through.
Joe Kuether raised to 12,000 under the gun only to have McLean Karr move all in right behind. Action folded back around to Kuether and he made the call.
Showdown
Karr:
Kuether:
Karr related the bad news to Antonio Esfandiari at the other table, but his solemn tune changed when the flop delivered him the lead with a pair of tens. Neither the turn nor river changed a thing, and Karr came from behind to double to 240,000.
Salvatore Bonavena was all in preflop with and at risk against the of Ashly Butler. The flop gave Bonavena a set and an even bigger lead, but the turn did deliver Butler a gut-shot straight draw to a jack. Fortunately for the Italian, the river was safe and he double.
Action folded around to Joe Kuether in the small blind and he simply moved all in and put the pressure on short-stacked McLean Karr in the big blind. The latter looked down at , snap-called, and was way out in front of Kuether's . The board ran out and Karr let a big smile cross his face as he received a much-needed double.
It's been pretty quiet here as of late. In one hand Jamel Haddad opened for 13,000 only to fold when Florian Ciuro moved all in for 123,000.
In the very next hand, Antonio Esfandiari opened for 12,500 from the cutoff and was met with a three-bet to 28,000 from Antonin Teisseire on the button. Ciuro then moved all in once again from the small blind and drove out both his opponents.
We're not quite sure of the action, but we do know that W.J. Vincent was all in preflop for around 60,000 with and up against the Jamel Haddad. The flop gave Haddad a pair of sixes, but he needed more help if he hoped to eliminate his American opponent.
Wouldn't you know it, the spiked on the turn to give Haddad two pair and the lead. Vincent was clearly disappointed, and after the river sent him home in 13th place, all he could say in a sarcastic tone was, "Well, that was fun."
