Two out, two in

Frank Kassela
Frank Kassela

Rob Jarrett-Smith and Paul Zimbler have departed from Table 6 since we've last been past. The table would've been hoping for a couple of no-name short-stacks to come in but they have to contend with Frank Kassela (14,500) and Fabrice Soullier (8,500). Heavy names with heavy racks.

Simon Says...

... "Good game," as he eliminated an opponent, his {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} holding up against {7-Spades}{7-Diamonds}.

It was Simon Mairs who lit the first spark, opening from UTG+1 for 425. His opponent three-bet all in for 1,475 and Mairs made the call.

A {Q-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades} board later and the scalp, and a now 6,200 stack, were his.

Feldman Avoids Being Felled Man

An early position player opened to 400 and it was called by the small blind before Andrew Feldman moved in for 750 total and got called in both spots.

The flop was {9-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {2-Hearts} and the original raiser bet the small blind off the hand with a 700 chip bet and then turned over {9-Hearts} {3-Clubs}.

"Nine-three? That's...interesting," commented Feldman as he turned over {K-Hearts} {K-Spades}, holding on the {10-Hearts} turn and {10-Clubs} river. Feldman up to 2,250.

Straight to Hawes

With a raise to 375 and flat call before him, Richard Hawes decided to make his move by pushing all in from the small blind for 3,150.

The initial raiser thought for a couple of minutes before making the call with {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}, leading to a showdown - after the cut-off had stepped out of the way - against Hawes' {K-Spades}{9-Spades}.

The {4-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{Q-Spades} flop brought a gutshot straight draw, which, after the {3-Diamonds} turn, duly came through on the {J-Spades} river to double Hawes through.

Good Start Undone

Full Tilt Poker sponsored player Paul Zimbler is bemoaning his luck. He told us that he was up to 7,000 but is now back down to 2,100 after his kings were cracked. He raised to 300 and then moved all-in when an opponent three-bet to 700. His opponent called all-in with ace-queen and duly hit an ace on the flop.

Not Marvellous

Neil Channing
Neil Channing

The near table started out with more stories than Jackanory with Devilfish and Neil Channing on board, but the anecdotes count will dip now that Channing has hit the deck.

Down to just a bowl of rice at the time, Channing moved all in for a few hundred in the cut-off with {Q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, but was looked up by Devilfish on the button who tabled a dominating {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}.

"Marvellous," sighed a disappointed Channing as an {A-Clubs} hit the window, but it was followed by a {10-Clubs} and {J-Diamonds} to give him outs to the straight. Despite a flush draw arriving on {4-Diamonds} turn, Channing was unable to hit as the river came the {5-Spades} to send him home.
