WCOOP 2020 Day 7: Yuri "theNERDguy" Dzivielevski First Repeat Winner of WCOOP 2020

Ahead of the second big Sunday of the 2020 PokerStars WCOOP, Day 7 saw six new champions being crowned including the first repeat WCOOP-winner of this series: Yuri "theNERDguy" Dzivielevski. The Brazilian star defeated countryman Murilo "Muka82" Figuereido heads-up in WCOOP-20-H: $1,050 HORSE to win $31,115.

Interestingly enough, the pair battled it out for the honor of first repeat winner of the series as Figuereido won WCOOP-22-M: $109 NL 5-Card Draw for $5,147 just hours before.

Naoya "nkeyno" Kihara also came within inches of becoming a two-time champion in the same night. In both the medium edition of the NL 5-Card Draw, as well as the $1,050 High edition, Kihara ultimately finished as runner-up. Despite the double near-miss, Kihara pocketed a combined $16,648 for his efforts.

In addition, PokerNews live reporting was in action and covered Day 1 of WCOOP-21-H: $5,200 NLHE [6-Max, Progressive KO] with tournament legend Jon "apestyles" van Fleet claiming top honor after Day 1.

Jon "apestyles" Van Fleet Finishes on Top After Day 1 of the PokerStars WCOOP-21-H: $5,200 NLHE [6-Max, Progressive KO] NLHE

Jon Van Fleet bags Day 1 chip lead in WCOOP-21-H.

The first day of WCOOP-21-H: $5,200 NLHE [6-Max, Progressive KO] has come to an end after reaching the money here on level 17.

Day 1 saw 108 total entries (75 unique and 33 re-entries) just slide pass the $500K guarantee prize pool generating a total of $540,000 that would be paid out to the top 14 finishers.

When the last chance saloon had closed for business on the first day it was Jon "apestyles" Van Fleet who came out on top and is the only player out of the final 14 to eclipse the two-million chip mark. Closest behind Van Fleet on the leaderboard is Michel "FreeLancerZZ" Dattani with a chip stack of 1,901,575.

Dattani had a rollercoaster of a day but managed to bounce back at the end with a well-timed heater. The day ended on a high note for Dattani after he coolered Aliaksei "ale6ka" Boika two spots away from the money. It was then Alexandru "steakaddict." Papazian that cracked the kings of Artur "mararthur1" Martirosian to burst the bubble and conclude the action for the night.
