Davies Pounding on Sun

Level 16 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Thomas Ward opened to 25,000 from under the gun and Sheng Sun called before Scott Davies three-bet to 75,000. Only Sun called and the American then ran three barrels worth 60,000 on the {9-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} flop, 115,000 on the {4-Hearts} turn and 233,000 on the {9-Spades} river. Sun called the first two bets but elected to fold after the final community card.

Devan Tang Eliminated in 8th Place (HK$ 184,600)

Level 16 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Devan Tang
Devan Tang

It sure was a hell of a comeback by Devan Tang today but the run has come to an end in 8th place for a payday of HK$ 184,600. Tang tangled with Scott Davies in two hands that saw his stack completely vanish towards the other side of the table.

In the first hand, Tang opened to 25,000 and was called by Davies on the button to see a heads-up flop of {J-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. Tang continued for 30,000 and was called before the {2-Clubs} turn slowed things down and saw two checks. The {4-Diamonds} river provided a bet of 50,000 by Tang and Davies called with the {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds} to scoop the pot versus {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}.

One hand later, Tang opened to 25,000 again and Davies three-bet to 60,000. The initial raiser clicked it up to 170,000 with a total stack of around 430,000 and Davies now made a triangle to announce all in. The bet was called and it was a coin flip for the tournament life.

Tang: {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds}
Davies: {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

Once again the American and 2014 World Series of Poker Asia Pacific Main Event champion won a crucial flip on a board of {5-Hearts}{6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{7-Spades} and jumped into the overall lead as first chips millionaire.

Only One Flop

Level 16 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

There was just one flop so far without triggering much action. Prior to that, Scott Davies had opened twice to 25,000 and folded when Thomas Ward three-bet to 60,000 from one seat over.

Kim Wittendorff then raised to 25,000 from the button and was called by Jack Hu in the big blind. Both players checked the {2-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{10-Spades} flop and the {Q-Diamonds} turn. Hu tried to steal the pot with a bet of 27,000 on the {A-Hearts} river but the Dane called and was good with {A-Clubs}{5-Spades}.

Alberto Gomez and Yung Bing Chu Eliminated in 9th Place

Level 15 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Yung Bing Chu
Yung Bing Chu

With two tables of five players each, there was an all in showdown at the exact same time and it reduced the field from 10 to its last eight hopefuls in a matter of one minute.

Yung Bing Chu got his stack of 230,000 chips in preflop with the {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} and Sheng Sun looked him up with {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs} from one seat over. The big stack prevailed on a board of {6-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs} and they shook hands.

There is now a quick break to set up the final table and the level has 02:33 minutes left on blinds of 5,000-10,000 with a running ante of 1,000.
Over on table 21, Alberto Gomez open-shoved from the button for what looked like 180,000 and Scott Davies reshoved out of the small blind.

Davies: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Gomez: {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}

After the {4-Hearts}{7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades} turn, Davies asked for a six and sure enough the dealer burned and turned the {6-Clubs} river.

With both players hitting the rail simultaneously, it was decided that they evenly chop the 9th and 10th place payout for HK$129,245 each.

Percy Yung Bubbles the 50K Freezeout

Level 15 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Percy Yung
Percy Yung

The bubble burst on the short-handed table after Jack Hu raised and snap-called the all in of Percy Yung for around 13 big blinds. They had to wait until the other table finished their hand before proceeding with the showdown.

Yung: {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}
Hu: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

The {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop provided some chop outs, yet the {6-Hearts} turn changed nothing. It was the {5-Spades} river that let the bubble burst and get all remaining 10 players into the money.

Wang Elimination Sets Hand for Hand Mode

Level 15 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante
Allen Wang
Allen Wang

It didn't take long for Allen Wang to get his short stack in the middle again with Jack Hu making the call from one seat over.

Hu: {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}
Wang: {J-Hearts}{9-Spades}

There was no help for the short stack on a board of {Q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{5-Spades}{A-Spades} and the field was reduced to 11 with the top 10 spots paid. Since one table has six left and the other five, the short-handed table will wait the one hand of the other table to make it fair for everyone.

Wang Comes Back from One Big Blind

Level 15 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Alberto Gomez opened to 20,000 and Jung Jung Tang shoved the small blind with Allen Wang moving all in from one seat over as well. Gomez elected to fold despite getting interesting odds and the two remaining players tabled their cards:

Tang: {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}
Wang: {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}

The board ran out {J-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Wang had 13,000 left with a big blind of 10,000 and 1,000 ante.

He got it in the next hand with {J-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} against the {Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} of Jack Hu and doubled up thanks to a {5-Spades}{6-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} board.

Shortly after he also tripled up for 29,000 with {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} against Sheng Sun's {9-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Hu, who mucked on the {4-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{8-Spades} river after being unable to beat either hand.
