Tony G Busts

Tony G Eliminated
Tony G Eliminated
Tony G has been working his short stack but eventually succumbed at the hands of Con Angelakis.

Guoga held {A-Spades}{2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} and made trip deuces on a board of {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} but Angelakis bettered that with {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for trip eights to collect the pot and send the G over to the big cash games.

What's Not to Like?

Mick "the Hoon" Stanton's been livening things up at his table, but that didn't stop Michael "TheBigSiCkO" Guzzardi from quartering him. Guzzardi check-raised Stanton on a flop of {8-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {7-Diamonds}, then led the {3-Diamonds} turn and the {5-Hearts} river. Stanton called each time, taking the two players to showdown.

Guzzardi: {A-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {10-Clubs}
Stanton: {A-Spades} {2-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {J-Clubs}

Stanton was in the lead for three-quarters of the pot until the last card, at which point the tables turned and Guzzardi tabled the three-quarter winning hand. Guzzardi admitted that he didn't like his hand much.

"You didn't like it?!" Stanton asked incredulously.

"I'm not used to this game," Guzzardi replied.

Marcus Makes Monster

Van Marcus
Van Marcus
On a board reading {6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{7-Hearts} Eugene Juczenko led out with a bet of 2,400 which was called by David Gorr before Van Marcus raised to 4,800. Juczenko and Gorr both made the call.

The river fell the {4-Diamonds} and the action checked to Marcus who bet again for 2,400. Juczenko called for his last chips as Gorr stepped aside.

Marcus tabled {2-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{6-Hearts} for a full house and nut low which was good to scoop the pot and eliminate Juczenko. Marcus is an experienced Omaha player and looking dangerous with 33,000 chips.

Quel Extends Lead

Rainer Quel Well In Front
Rainer Quel Well In Front
The giant-killing run of Rainer Quel continues after collecting a nice pot against Billy "The Croc" Argyros.

On a flop of {Q-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} Mark Furniss led out with a bet from the big blind which was called by "The Croc". Quel then bumped it up with Agryros the lone caller as Furniss folded.

The turn was the {8-Hearts} and Argyros check-called the bet from Quel. Both players checked the {9-Spades} on the river and the cards were tabled.

Quel flipped {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} for the straight to collect the pot. Argyros mucked his hand as Furniss claimed to have folded 9-T on the flop.

Zowie Zapped

Michael Zowie has been sent to the rail after his {K-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{5-Hearts}{K-Hearts} wasn't enough to rake in the chips on a board of {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{6-Spades}. Despite making a flush and second-nut low, Zowie ran into the {A-Clubs}{2-Spades}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds} of Jeffrey Duvall who made a full house for the high, while David Gorr collected the low with his nut {10-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}.

The "G" In Trouble

Kerry Stead has put a dent in the hopes of a final table berth for Tony G after scooping a recent pot. The "G" fired bets on the flop and turn before checking the river on a {A-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} board.

Stead showed down {A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{5-Spades} as his ace was enough for the high and 2-5 for the best low, as Guoga mucked his hand.

Stead is up to 28,000, leaving Guoga in trouble with only 2,500 chips.

Potter Busto

James Potter - eliminated
James Potter - eliminated
James Potter was trying to make it three-for-three, with three cashes in the first three events of the 2009 Aussie Millions Poker Championships. He found himself in the unenviable position of being all in with {A-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {3-Spades} on a board of {K-Diamonds} {J-Spades} {8-Spades}. Potter's tormentor was chip leader Rainer Quel, who showed the leading hand with {Q-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} {9-Clubs} {3-Hearts}. A {9-Spades} on the turn took away Potter's hope of making a low hand. The river {K-Hearts} ended his chance of making a winning high hand. He's out, while Quel moves up to 67,000.

Van KO's The Champ!

Alexander Kostritsyn Eliminated
Alexander Kostritsyn Eliminated
Ashish Gupta limped in from under the gun before Alexander Kostritsyn put in the raise. Constantine Harach called on the button as did Marcus in the big blind. Gupta came along for the ride and they saw a four-way flop of {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{K-Hearts}.

Marcus led out with a bet and Gupta folded. Kostritsyn then moved all in for his last 2,000 and Harach folded. Marcus made the call.

Marcus: {Q-Spades}{J-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{8-Spades}
Kostritsyn: {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}{9-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Marcus had flopped the straight and it held as the turn and river arrived {5-Diamonds},{5-Hearts}. Marcus collects the pot to move to 24,000 and Kostritsyn experiences a rare moment in the Crown Poker Room - an elimination from a tournament!
