Gumina Departs

Giuseppe Gumina Eliminated
Giuseppe Gumina Eliminated
Giuseppe "Pino" Gumina was all in for his last chips on a flop of {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}{10-Hearts}. When the cards were tabled Gumina's {A-Hearts}{3-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} would need to improve against the {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Hearts} of Paul Sharbanee. It wasn't to be as the turn and river arrived {3-Diamonds}, {Q-Hearts} to give Sharbanee two pair and the pot to send Gumina to the exit.

Sick River Quarters Guzzardi

Con Angelakis got things started preflop by raising from late position. He was called by Michael Guzzardi from the button and Tony G from the small blind. Action checked to Angelakis on a flop of {8-Clubs} {6-Spades} {6-Diamonds}. He dutifully bet and was raised by Guzzardi, folding Tony G. Angelakis called.

The turn came {K-Spades}. Angelakis checked, then raised after Guzzardi bet. Guzzardi reraised to put Angelakis all in. The hands were opened:

Angelakis: {A-Spades} {2-Spades} {3-Spades} {3-Hearts}
Guzzardi: {A-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {6-Clubs}

Guzzardi showed trip sixes with the nut low draw. Angelakis showed a flush draw and the nut low draw. It seemed certain that Guzzardi would get at least half, and more likely three-quarters or a scoop, but the river was an ugly {3-Clubs} to give Angelakis a full house for high. The two players chopped the low, making Guzzardi the one who was quartered.

Harach Cracks Marcus' Aces

Van Marcus was the preflop aggressor, putting in the raise from middle position. He found callers in Alexander Kostritsyn and Constantine Harach.

The flop came down {5-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs} and Harach checked to Marcus who made the bet. Both opponents called once again.

The turn brought the {7-Clubs} and this time Harach led out with a bet which Marcus called as Kostritsyn got out of the way.

The river was the {10-Diamonds} and Harach checked to Marcus who sighed "I can't value bet" before checking behind. It was a wise check as Harach tabled {6-Spades}{8-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} for the straight as Marcus flashed {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{2-Spades}-X before mucking.

Marcus slips to 12,400 with Harach now up to 19,600.

The G Takes One From The Guzz

On a flop of {A-Hearts}{j-Spades}{Q-Hearts} Michael Guzzardi checked to Tony G who fired a bet of 800. Guzzardi made the call.

The turn was the {4-Spades} and again Guzzardi check-calls the bet from Guoga as they see the {9-Clubs} peel off on the river. Guzzardi checked for a third time and Guoga fired once more. Guzzardi decided to give it up and Guoga takes the pot. He's up to 25,000 with Guzzardi back to 23,000.

An "A" for Effort

Marsha Waggoner
Marsha Waggoner
Alexander Kostritsyn tried to bulldoze his way through a hand with Marsha Waggoner. He raised preflop, and then led the betting on every street of a board that came {K-Spades} {J-Clubs} {K-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {3-Hearts}. The jig was up when Waggoner called Kostritsyn's river bet.

"Ace high," announced a beaten Kostritsyn. Waggoner showed down {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} {3-Spades} to collect the pot with a full house, kings full of threes.

"Nice try," remarked Van Marcus wryly. "If you were able to make her fold kings full I'd be impressed."

Waggoner is up to 28,000 in chips. Kostritsyn is still in the hunt with 16,000.

Just a Bit Too Slow

"TheBigSiCkO" is a bit sick of the other players at his table.
"TheBigSiCkO" is a bit sick of the other players at his table.
With table balancing becoming more of a priority, the tournament staff came to Michael Guzzardi's table to move the small blind to a different table. Guzzardi was to be the button for the upcoming hand. Looking around at table mates Tony G, Mel Judah, Mick "the Hoon" Stanton and Gary Benson, Guzzardi joked that he wished the staff had come to the table when he was in the small blind just a few moments before.

Benson busted shortly thereafter, removing one of Guzzardi's worries from the table.

Dorazio Busts With Set Over Set

Justin Dorazio
Justin Dorazio
PokerNews reporter Justin Dorazio has hit the rail after his set of kings ran into the set of aces of Constantine Harach.

Dorazio was all in for his last 1,600 chips with {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}{4-Spades} and appeared good for a double up when the flop came {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}. However Harach tabled {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{6-Spades}{7-Clubs} for the larger set.

The turn and river bricked {6-Hearts}, {3-Spades} to end Dorazio's tournament as Harach now sits with 16,000 chips.
