Saab Doubles Guzzardi In The Dark

Michael Guzzardi
Michael Guzzardi
The action folded around to Michael Guzzardi in the small blind who moved all in for around 3,000 chips. The only problem was that David Saab was in the big blind and he made the call...in the dark!

Guzzardi turned over the {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs} but trailed as Saab slowly peeled back {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

Saab held the lead but was crushed on the {J-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{J-Spades} flop as Guzzardi flopped trips. The turn was the {4-Hearts} and river the {10-Clubs} and Guzzardi is up to 6,700 with Saab slipping to 15,000.

Huxley Busto

Huxley: eliminated
Huxley: eliminated
Robert Huxley was spotted by the PokerNews crew heading for the rail. We got a chance to have a chat to him as he explained his elimination at the hands of Peter Aristidou.

"It was a disaster," said Huxley. "He raises from early position to 1,100 with pocket tens, I shove for my last 2,800 with pocket fives and he calls. Board bricks out. What can you do?"

Apart from bugger all, we suggest heading to the bar for a cold one.

Benson Doubles

Gary Benson
Gary Benson
Catching the action on a flop of {A-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, Gary Benson was faced with a bet of 1,600 from this opponent before deciding to move in for an additional 5,200 more.

With Benson visibly shaking his leg, his opponent went into the tank before making the call.

Benson: {A-Diamonds}{4-Spades}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{6-Hearts}

The turn was the {2-Clubs} and the river the {J-Spades} and Benson's two pair holds up to jump himself up to 14,500 chips.

Jeffreys Gets Stacked, Goes On Tilt

'Adgee': not so cheery
'Adgee': not so cheery
Andrew Jeffreys and his opponent in the cutoff got all their money in the middle preflop. We caught the action as the cards were tabled:

Opponent: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}
Jeffreys: {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}

"Ship the justice, one time!" shouted Jeffreys in trademark fashion. Not this time around: the flop came down {A-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} to send the opponent further in front with a set of aces.

"You're drawing pretty slim, buddy," said tablemate David Saab. When the {3-Diamonds} appeared on the turn, Saab bid goodbye to Jeffreys.

As the meaningless {3-Spades} fell on the river, Jeffreys cracked it: "I'm on tilt now!" he exclaimed as we went on a walk out of the poker room to cool down.

'Adgee' is down to 4,000 and is looking as he's on his way out for the rest of night.

One For The Moose

More chips for the Moose
More chips for the Moose
Bill Jordanou limped under the gun before Raemin "Jake The Moose" Alexander raised from the button to 1,100. The blinds folded and Jordanou made the call.

They went to a flop of {10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{7-Spades} and Jordanou checked to Alexander who fired 1,300 into the middle. Jordanou made the call.

The turn brought the {J-Spades} and Jordanou moved all in with Alexander snap-calling with the {K-Spades}{Q-Spades} for second-nut flush. Jordanou took one look, grimaced and simply mucked his hand!

The river was a meaningless {4-Clubs} and Alexander finds a very nice double up to 13,000 with Jordanou slipping to 2,500.

Tony G Doubles Through

Tough day for Tony G
Tough day for Tony G
The action folded around to Tony G who raised to 900 from the cutoff, only to find the opponent in the big blind reaching for more chips as he asked, "How much do you have?"

"About five thousand," Tony G replied. The opponent promptly shoved a stack of purples into the middle. Tony G began to count his chips, then gave up in a huff and shoved them in, splashing them everywhere.

Tony G: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}
Opponent: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}

The board ran out {4-Spades}{9-Clubs}{K-Spades}{2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}, doubling Tony G up to about 11,000 in chips.

You're Damm Crazy If You Mess With Kenneth

Defending champion in this event and runner-up in last year in the PokerNews Cup Main Event Kenneth Damm is back looking for more glory.

We caught a recent hand involving the PokerNews Cup's most successful foreign invader. Preflop Damm limped in and the big blind popped it up to 600. Damm made the call and they took a {q-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{3-Spades} flop.

The big blind checked and Damm bet 2,500, enough to put the big blind all in. He tanked for a good while before folding, and Damm flipped over {5-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for just a flush draw, before dragging the pot.
