Voertmann Recovers in Stud

Stud:

Jens Voertmann has played some very solid poker at this final table and held the chip lead for a long time before recently finding himself as the short stack.

However has just made a nice comeback after taking down consecutive pots in stud. In the first hand he made fives and deuces against Doug Ganger. Then next hand he made sevens and sixes after Marcel Luske check-raised on fifth street and could only make a pair of queens.

Voertmann is now back to the chip lead.

Ganger Surges Late in Razz

Doug Ganger has made a late surge in the razz round, collecting small pots off both Marcel Luske and Jens Voertmann. Ganger has a slight lead over Luske, with Voertmann now the short stack.

The chips are flying as we head into the round of stud.

A Bizarre Razz Hand Sends Pot to Luske

Razz:

Jens Voertmann bet the whole way until the river with {3-?}{6-?}{K-?}{10-?} and Luske called with {K-?}{3-?}{J-?}{10-?}.

On the river Voertmann checked, and Luske fired out a bet. Voertmann called and Luske sheepishly turned over ({A-?}{A-?}{5-?}) for only a jack low. Voertmann then turned his cards over, grimaced and cried, "Nooo!" as he realized he had mis-read his hand, showing ({6-?}{9-?}{Q-?}) for only a queen low!

Luske then stood and shouted, "You mis-read your hand? Don't worry about mis-reading your hand! I read your hand for you!" as he dragged in the monster pot to climb over the 1 million chip mark! Voertmann slips to about 780,000.

Checking Out the Action

Throughout the evening, several players have been coming by checking out the action. Currently, Alexander Kostritsyn and "Detroit" Al Green are watching the action. Joe Hachem was spotted briefly watching the action. This is turning out to be quite the match and promises to go on for a while now that we are almost even in chips again.

Luske Runs Huge Bluff

Hold'em:

Marcel Luske raised from the button preflop and both opponents made the call out of the blinds.

The flop came {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{4-Spades} and the action checked to Luske who made a continuation bet. Doug Ganger folded before Jens Voertmann announced a raise. Luske quickly declared a reraise and Voertmann called.

The turn brought the {5-Clubs} and Voertmann checked to Luske, who bet out again. Voertmann thought for a moment and laid down his hand as Luske flashed {Q-Spades}{6-Clubs} for nothing but imagination!

His entourage gave a nice cheer as Luske jumped back to close to 700,000 in chips. This could be the kick-start he needs to get back into this contest!

Time To Get Serious

During the last holdem hand, Marcel Luske put on his signature sunglasses. He is clearly beginning to show the signs of frustration. We aren't sure whether it is frustration due to lack of cards, the fact he is the short stack, or even fatigue.

Ganger Chips Up During Stud-8 Round

The stud-8 round has been pretty slow going, with Doug Ganger gaining a small increase in chips during this round. He took a couple of small pots off Marcel Luske when his board landed better than Luske's, causing him to fold.

In the one showdown hand, Ganger made sevens and threes against the pair of eights and busted low draw of Jens Voertmann to scoop the pot.

Ganger would be close to level with Voertmann on chips now as we head into the hold'em round once again.
