Devilfish Sent Back to Hell

Jon Persson has caught himself a fish.

The Devilfish goes all in with {Q-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

Persson {A-Spades}{9-Hearts}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts}

Flop: {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} - Looks good for Devilfish

Turn: {J-Spades} - uh oh

River: {8-Clubs} giving Persson a straight.

"I played two days for that bull%$*&," he says.

No sooner as the Devilfish busts out as he is being interviewed by TV.

What a pro.

Jani Sointula Eliminated

Jani Sointula Busto

Rafi Amit claimed another victim in his quest for another WSOP bracelet. He just took out Jani Sointula (Finland). Sointula limped and Tony G folded, except that he accidentally exposed his hand. The dealer showed Tony G's cards... double suited spades and diamonds. Rafi Amit raised to 16,000 and Sointula called. The flop was {Q-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and Sointula fired out 35,000. Amit asked him how much did he had behind. He had about 13,000 more. Amit raised to put him all in. Sointula quickly called.

Amit: {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{9-Spades}{6-Spades}
Sointula: {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}

Amit was ahead with a pair of Aces, but Sointula picked up a flush redraw. The turn was the {Q-Hearts} and the river was the {3-Hearts}. Sointula's hand could not improve and he headed to the rail.

Dancing Queens

I Have A Dream!
I Have A Dream!
Jon Persson and Andreas Hagen, who look like the offspring of Abba with their wispy blonde hair flopped over their faces, tangle in a battle of the blinds encounter.

I joined the action on the flop of a {10-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} with Persson check-raising his fellow Scandinavian and thinking gimme gimme gimme a fold. Hagen calls and the two players see a {7-Diamonds}. "Mama mia!" thinks Persson as he checks what is clearly an unfavourable turn.

Hagen takes a chance and checks behind him allowing the dealer to flip over the {7-Hearts} river. Huffing and puffing slightly, perhaps with a flopped two pair or even a straight, Persson checks. Hagen then chucks 20k into a near 100k bet, a bet so small that Persson surely can't resist. However, like the super trooper he is, he realises that he's probably behind and being teased into calling, and so makes the fold.

As a result, the winner takes it all and Hagen scoops in all the money money money to leave Persson with 115,000, a far cry from the near 200k he possessed not too long ago.

Tony G doubles up through Rafi Amit

On a flop of {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} Tony G bets out 16,000 into a 32,000 pot and Rafi Amit puts out a stack of 5,000 chips, effectively a full pot raise. Tony shrugs and moves all his chips in. Rafi sighs and looks disgusted, but announces "I call".

Tony opens {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for Jacks up with the nut flush draw.
Rafi opens {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{5-Hearts} for...........

The turn {5-Clubs} and river {7-Spades} do not improve Rafi, however, at the end of the hand he says "Straight," to which Tony G replies, "I'm gone, on my bike," and stands up. The dealer, believing the players are serious, begins pushing the pot to Rafi. It doesn't take Tony long to stop him, though, and he now has just under 200,000.
