Hands # 65-70, One Flop, Two Walks

You might not think it's the same tournament which flew through the first two tables, but maybe because they've done so the two players with the most chips do still have a lot of options. Those with fewer don't seem keen to tangle too often or for too much, unless they're Gianni Giaroni, in which case they occasionally just pop it to 77k preflop and take down the blinds. The last time this happened was on Freddy Deeb's big blind, and as he folded he said, "You make 60 of these bets, and 60 times, no one has a hand to call you!"

The flop in this section of hands: {8-Diamonds} {4-Spades} {K-Hearts} after Roger Hairabedian called a Sorel Mizzi 9k raise preflop. He wasn't keen to continue further, however, and folded when Mizzi bet 13,500.

Holy Giaroni Batman!

Hand #64: Freddy Deeb opened preflop and Gianni Giaroni pushed all-in for about 46,000. Deeb got a count on the stacks before saying, "I'll gamble with you, what the hell."

Deeb: {K-Spades} {8-Spades}
Giaroni: {A-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}

The board came {9-Hearts} {7-Spades} {10-Diamonds} {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades} and Gianroni doubled up to about 95,000 which he was rather pleased about.

Six Out of Last Eight Pots to Sorel Mizzi

OK they haven't been enormous, but he's consistently hoovering up the 2k/4k blinds and antes, even getting one walk. We are, however, not seeing many showdowns. He's also taken down both pots which got as far as the flop in this period. He'd raised both of these preflop and on both occasions his opponents (Roger Hairabedian and Freddy Deeb) quickly check-folded the flops, the latter to a 15k bet seeing {A-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {6-Diamonds}.

Mizzi Continues To Dominate

Hand #50: Freddy Deeb raised to 9,200 and Sorel Mizzi repopped it 27,700 quickly ending the hand.

Hand #51: Mizzi made it 7,500 and Freddy Deeb made the call from the big blind. Deeb tried to encourage the other two to play hands saying, "You've gotta get your feet wet!" Mizzi bet out 10,500 on the {A-Hearts} {2-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts} flop but Deeb check-raised to 35,500 and Mizzi made the call

Suddenly the pot was getting fairly big as {6-Diamonds} came on the turn. Deeb checked a second time, Mizzi checked behind him to see a blank {2-Spades} river. Deeb checked once more and Mizzi threw out 4 plaques worth 25k each and Deeb instantly folded.

"I was bluffing buddy," Deeb said resignedly.

Hand #53: Mizzi opened to 7,500 from the button once again, Hairabedian called in the small blind and checked in the dark before the {J-Clubs} {7-Spades} {K-Clubs} flop. Mizzi quickly bet 10,500 and Hairabedian called. The {8-Hearts} came on the turn and Hairabedian checked again but this time Mizzi checked behind him and they saw a {4-Spades} river. Now Hairabedian bet 20,000 and Mizzi quickly folded.

Players are now on a break.

Mizzi Never Misses?

Most of the action seems to be between Deeb and Mizzi at the moment, and a blind vs. blind hand was no exception. Deeb raised in the small blind to 10k, called by Mizzi. The flop brought the {J-Clubs} {5-Clubs} {2-Spades} and a bet out from Deeb of 15k, which was called after a moment's pause by Mizzi. Both players then opted for the check for both the {10-Diamonds} and {9-Spades} turn and river.

"Ace-queen," said Deeb.

"I have a five," countered Mizzi. His pair was good to take the pot.

Hands #45-7 Mizzi Regains Momentum

Gianni Giaroni came out raising a huge 60k straight off the bat again preflop, and as usual, no callers.

Then two hands in a row Sorel Mizzi raised to 7,500 reflop. The first got him the pot, but the second picked up Freddy Deeb. On the {3-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} flop, Deeb check-called Mizzi's 10,500 bet quickly. His 25,800 bet on the {10-Spades} turn, however, took Deeb a little longer to call. On the {6-Spades} river Deeb once again checked and now Mizzi bet 58,700. This took him an even longer time to consider and eventually call.

"Aces," said Mizzi, and that one word was enough to send Deeb's cards into the muck.

Mizzi Pushes Haribedian Off Jacks

Hand #44: Roger Haribedian raised to 11,400 and Sorel Mizzi called in the big blind. The flop was {9-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}, Mizzi checked and Haribedian said, "Of course check!" Mizzi fired out 16,500 on the {6-Hearts} turn and Haribedian made the call to see a {9-Diamonds} river.

Mizzi thought and then bet a hefty 60,000, Haribedian began chewing on his expensive sunglasses. "You can't do this with nothing," said Haribedian, "it's not possible," he then folded {J-Clubs} {J-Spades} face up. Mizzi gratefully scooped up the pot.

Deeb Passes to Best Bluffer in France?

Hand #40 Roger Hairabedian made it 8,500 to go preflop, called by Dreddy Deeb and Sorel Mizzi on the blinds. The flop brought {9-Spades} {8-Diamonds} {6-Spades} and checks to Hairabedian. "One card for free," he said, bringing the {Q-Spades}. Now Deeb led out for 15k, Mizzi passed, and Hairabedian called. The river brought the {6-Diamonds} and a check from Deeb.

"No Freddy, no check. You are my friend but I must bet. 25k."

"You are the best bluffer in France. I will let you stay that way," replied Deeb, folding and giving him the pot.

Just Mizzing About

Hand #36: Everyone gave Sorel Mizzi a walk.

Hand #37: Freddy Deeb raised to 6,400 from the button, Mizzi then reraised to 18,500 from the small blind. Deeb liked his hand a lot less and folded to the Canadian.

Hand #38: Mizzi raised to 7,500 and won the blinds.

Hand #39: Mizzi raised to 7,500 and Freddy Deeb called in the big blind. The flop was {4-Clubs} {9-Clubs} {A-Hearts} and Deeb check-called a bet of 10,500. Both then checked the {4-Diamonds} turn, leading to a {10-Diamonds} river and Deeb checked a third time. Mizzi looked like he wanted to bet but decided to check once more.

"Nine," said Deeb.

"It's good," Mizzi replied.
