WSOP Day 43: Big Names Left in $5K NLHE, Cada Advances in Main Event

While the $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em MAIN EVENT has now reached the final 26 players, no less than six other tournaments will also be in action in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino today.

In Event #68: The Little One for One Drop - $1,000 +111 No-Limit Hold'em, Justin Liberto leads the final 125 players. Several big names also return in Event #71: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em, including Chance Kornuth, Liv Boeree, Matt Glantz, Phil Hellmuth, and Antoine Saout.

The Main Event meanwhile moves on to Day 7, with Aram Zobian returning as chip leader and 2009 WSOP Main Event champion Joe Cada continuing his amazing quest for a second title. Sylvain Loosli, who finished fourth in the 2013 WSOP Main Event, is also still part of the field and seeking a second trip to a Main Event final table.

Event #65: $10,000 No-Limit Hold'em MAIN EVENT - World Championship

After six days of play, only 26 remain from the 7,874 who began as players get closer and closer to the final table, all still with dreams of winning the $8.8 million first-place prize and gold bracelet valued at more than $500,000.

Leading the pack is Aram Zobian with 41,585,000, followed by Artem Metalidi (30,845,000), Antoine Labat (28,445,000), Michael Dyer (26,515,000), and Alex Lynskey (22,045,000).

Others remaining include Yueqi Zhu (19,245,000), Martijn Gerrits (17,790,000), two-time WSOP bracelet winner Eric Froehlich (15,285,000), 2016 WSOP Main Event 11th-place finisher John Cynn (14,750,000), Frederik Jensen (12,100,000), Sylvain Loosli (11,635,000), Joe Cada (8,850,000), and Ivan Luca (8,820,000).

Event #68: The Little One for One Drop - $1,000 +111 No-Limit Hold'em

After the completion of Day 2 in the Little One for One Drop, Justin Liberto returns as chip leader with 1,399,000.

Only 125 advanced to Day 3 from the 4,732-entry field that built a total prize pool of $4,258,800. The winner will earn the bracelet and a $559,332 first-place prize.

Following Liberto currently are Aditya Sushant (1,341,000), Alexandru Papazian (1,059,000), Ray Qartomy (1,042,000), and Brian England (1,025,000).

Other players remaining include Jeff Gross (788,000), 888poker Ambassador Dominik Nitsche (710,000), Kyle Keranen (551,000), Juan Vecino (424,000), Mike Shin (397,000), [Removed:139] (333,000), Benjamin Moon (282,000), Dietrich Fast (221,000), and Dutch Boyd (146,000).

Event #70: $3,000 Limit Hold'em 6-Handed

With Day 2 wrapped up in this one, Juha Helppi and Yaser Al-Keliddar shared the chip lead with only eight players remaining. Both return with a stack of 927,000.

Following those two are Mike Schneider (316,000), Justin Thurlow (300,000), Barry Greenstein (271,000), Andrew Yip (234,000), Won Lee (191,000), and Joao Vieira (149,000).

The remaining eight players are all guaranteed $14,871 with the champion scheduled to win $154,338.

Event #71: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em (30 minute levels)

This turbo-styled hold'em event attracted 452 entries from which only 39 players will return for today's second and final day of play. All those entries created a total prize pool of $2,101,800.

Jonathan Abdellatif returns as chip leader with 754,000.

Following Abdellatif in the counts are Markus Gonsalves (722,000), Chance Kornuth (622,000), Paul Hoefer (579,000), and Liv Boeree (534,000).

Others remaining include Steven Wolansky (498,000), Matt Glantz (473,000), Phil Hellmuth (468,000), and Antoine Saout (410,000).

Everyone left is guaranteed at least $9,747, with $485,082 going to the winner.

Event #72: $1,500 Mixed No-Limit Hold'em/Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed

After registration closed in this mixed NLHE/PLO event, there were 707 total entries for a prize pool of $954,450 and the winner earning a top prize of $197,461.

Just 123 players advanced to Day 2. Leading the field is Jordan Polk, who bagged 148,500.

Polk is followed in the counts by Peter Eichhardt (127,800), Ryan Leng (116,300), Jon Turner (98,100), and Terrence Schehen (90,700).

Other notables moving on to Day 2 include Ryan Bambrick (62,100), Christina McAlpin (54,400), Joe Hachem (41,000), Michael Mizrachi (30,000), Daniel Negreanu (22,800), Eric Baldwin (19,900), Brian Hastings (17,700), Justin Liberto (47,500), and Rainer Kempe (25,300).

Event #73: $1,000 DOUBLE STACK No-Limit Hold'em (30 minute levels)

The double-stacking fun returns to the Rio on Wednesday at a bargain price in this new two-day event. Players receive 10,000 starting chips and will play 30-minute levels, with late registration available through the first eight levels

The event kicks off at 11 a.m. and PokerNews will be there with live updates, chip counts, photos, and more.

Also starting today is another three-day "big blind ante" event, another new one on the WSOP schedule. Players begin with 50,000 chips in this one with levels running 60 minutes and late registration open until the start of Day 2.
