The Online Railbird Report: Rare Winning Week for Hansen; Tollerene Extends 2014 Lead
Gus Hansen is featured in the Online Railbird Report quite often, but more times than not it's because he's a loser. The Great Dane shook that stigma this week though as he won $504,236 on Full Tilt Poker in 19,675 hands over 108 sessions, according to HighStakesDB.com. Hansen is still the years biggest loser, but now hes only down a little over a million.
Another player who had a good week was pot-limit Omaha superstar Ben Bttech86 Tollerene, who won $298,024 in 9,697 hands over 56 sessions. That pushed Tollerenes winnings on the year up to $1,828,239, which puts him atop the leaderboard.
Others who fared well this week were Dan jungleman12 Cates (+$533,290 in 34 sessions/4,060 hands), thecortster (+$414,366 in 19 sessions/2,001 hands), kagome kagome (+$407,420 in 22 sessions/2,829 hands), and samrostan (+$232,282 in 33 sessions/3,493 hands).
Oppositely, Alexander PostflopAction Kostritsyn was the weeks biggest loser after dropping $511,150 in 2,633 hands over 26 sessions. Others who finished in the red were Hac trex313 Dang (-$330,056 in 56 sessions/12,276 hands), Viktor Isildur1 Blom (-$290,125 in 80 sessions/8,596 hands), mikki696 (-$254,428 in 38 sessions/5,912 hands), taktloss47 (-$246,450 in 20 sessions/1,820 hands), and last weeks biggest winner Harry Schoitl Cassagrande (-$222,328 in 29 sessions/4,017 hands).

yurasov1990 and Hansen Book Friday Wins
Last Friday, Russia's Dmitriy "yurasov1990" Yurasov finished as the days biggest winner with $180,400 in profit over on PokerStars. Most of that came at the $50/$100 no-limit holdem tables, which is where he won $86,000 in 90 minutes from FMyLife. Six hours later, he was back at it and won $93,000 more from PimpyLimpy in a mix of NLHE and pot-limit Omaha (he won $29,000 in the former and $64,000 in the latter). Heres a look at a couple of notable hands.
Hand #1: Playing $50/$100 NLHE, FMyLife ($32,777.40) opened for $200 and then called when yurasov1990 ($13,692) three-bet to $800. When the flop came down 5?7?9?, yurasov1990 led out for $1,200, FMyLife called, and the K? turned. Another bet and call occurred, this time for $2,450, and the Q? completed the board on the river. Yurasov1990 moved all in for his last $9,242, and FMyLife wasted little time in calling. Yurasov1990 rolled over the Q?J? for a flush, and it was good enough to win the $27,384 pot a FMyLife simply mucked.
Hand #2: At a $50/$100 PLO table, yurasov1990 ($23,742.32) raised to $300, PimpyLimpy ($13,545.50) called, and the flop fell 2?5?7?. PimpyLimpy checked, yurasov1990 bet $350, and PimpyLimpy check-raised to $1,438.68. Yurasov1990 made the call and then called a bet of $2,606.52 on the 9? turn. When the K? completed the board on the river, PimpyLimpy bet $6,516.30 and then called off his last $2,684 after yurasov1990 raised, which created a pot worth $27,091. Yurasov1990 revealed the 6?8?9?7? for the nuts, but it ended up being a chop as PimpyLimpy held the same with the 8?6?8?K?.
Its also worth noting that Hansen, the biggest loser in online poker history, also won on Friday. He lost $100,000 playing 2-7 triple draw, but he had a good day playing PLO by winning $191,000. All told, he finished the day a $88,700 winner.
Heres a look at one his more notable hands:
Hansen Kicks Off March with a $260,100 Win
Gus Hansen continued his winning streak into Saturday, which is when he banked $260,100 playing $2,000/$4,000 2-7 triple draw against the likes of kagome kagome, taktloss47, and Viktor Isildur1 Blom, just to name a few.
While Hansen, who won in both a morning and evening session, was the big winner, some others managed to finish in the black. The aforementioned kagome kagome was one, finishing up $219,800, and the other was Dan jungleman12 Cates, who won $170,300.
Meanwhile, taktloss47 was the games biggest loser down $294,000, while Blom, who lost $238,000, wasnt far behind.
Blom Slows the Slide in Sunday Action
Viktor Isildur1 Blom got off to a great start in 2014, but as of late he has been on the decline; in fact, he had lost nearly a million in the week leading up to Sunday, March 2. That is when he halted the skid and booked a $331,600 win.
Blom won $145,000 playing $2,000/$4,000 2-7 triple draw, and then took to the heads-up tables in the evening. Blom squared off against Sanlker at the $200/$400 NLHE table for nearly 1,300 hands, but the Swede lost $218,000 in the match. Heres a look at the two biggest pots from the match, which were also the biggest of the day.
Hand #1: Blom ($58,190) opened for $1,200 and then called a three-bet to $4,000 from Sanlker ($56,986.75), which brought about a flop of 9?K?7?. Sanlker bet $4,000, Blom called, and the 4? appeared on the turn. Sanlker bet again, this time $12,000, and again Blom made the call. When the A? completed the board on the river, Sanlker moved all in for $36,986.75 and Blom called to create a pot of $113,973.50. Sanlker tabled the A?K? for two pair, and it was good enough to win as Blom mucked his cards.
Hand #2: Blom ($64,595) raised to $1,200 and then called when Sanlker ($49,999.5) three-bet to $4,000. Blom proceeded to call bets of $4,000 and $8,000 on the 6?6?9? flop and 8? turn, respectively, and then Sanlker moved all in for $33,999.50 on the K? river. Blom quickly called with the K?J? for two pair, and it was good enough to win the $100,000 pot as Sanlker was bluffing with his missed straight draw.
While Blom lost playing NLHE, he went on to win $343,000 playing $500/$1,000 CAP PLO against Ben Bttech86 Tollerene. It was a bad night for the 2014 online leader, but he bounced back the next day.
Tollerene Wins $535,000 Playing PLO
When it comes to pot-limit Omaha, no one did better last year than Ben Bttech86 Tollerene. So it was no surprise to see him return to his winning ways playing the same game on Monday, which is when he banked a robust $535,600. It came over the course of six hours at the $200/$400 and $500/$1,000 limits. Well let the following three hands from the match tell the story.
Hand #1: At the $500/$1,000 tables, action was four handed when Ami UhhMee Barer ($247,870) opened for $2,000 under the gun only to have Gus Hansen ($48,751) three-bet to $7,500 from the button. The small blind folded, Tollerene ($365,531) called from the big, and Barer put in the additional $5,500 to make it three-way action to the 5?6?9? flop. Two checks put action on Hansen, and he put out a bet of $7,000. Only Tollerene called and then both players checked the 5? turn.
When the Q? completed the board on the river, Tollerene fired out $25,500 and Hansen called to create a pot of $88,000. Tollerene tabled the K?10?A?3? for a flopped flush, and it was good as Hansen sent his cards to the muck unseen.
Hand #2: In the same game, Hansen sat out and Hac trex313 Dang ($85,969) opened for $2,500 from the button. Tollerene ($198,167) then three-bet to $7,750 from the small blind, UhhMee ($232,035) four-bet to $25,500 from the big, and Dang got out of the way. Tollerene made the call and then capped the pot with a bet of $14,500 on the 7?10?9? flop. UhhMee called and the cards were turned up.
UhhMee: A?J?2?K?
Tollerene: 7?5?6?4?
The 5? turn improved Tollerene to two pair, and the 10? river actually gave him a bigger two pair. UhhMee missed his draws and watched the $82,248 pot pushed Tollerenes way.
Hand #3:
